Very interesting stuff. I can't believe that only 9% of users jailbreak their devices though! I thought it was more than that. I'm predicting the new jailbreak will be released

There isn't a court ruling to say it illegal. No court case has come to the conclusion that jailbreaking is illegal, it's been argued that they are simply modifying the software which IS legal, and they aren't distributing copyrighted software. Apple can't touch them. As Saurik said in the interview the only thing Apple can do is deny your warranty claim. They even state in a post on their website if you have a jailbroken phone they won't honor it. Apple has no legal recourse, as of right now and since jailbreaking started back in the jailbreakme.com days, to go after anyone involved in jailbreaking.

(I remember waiting until a public jailbreak came out, going to my local AT&T store in Columbus Ga, buying the phone, and sitting in their parking lot to use their free wifi and entering the numbers on the emergency call screen to access the settings to turn on wifi. 5 minutes later I had a jailbroken iPhone courtesy of AT&Ts free wifi.)

Unless he's in summer school (which I doubt he is considering he's a major contributor in developing an iPhone 4 JB) I seriously doubt the JB is taking any extra time due to homework lol. Not a flame by any means, just a observation.....

The only thing I can imagine that would possibly hold him up from working on the JB would be either catching tail or studying for the SAT/ACT to get into harvard, yale or another elite college that request's his intelligence.

Lets put this whole Jailbreak legal/illegal issue into a more understandable analogy for both you and other's....

Lets say you buy a brand new truck which obviously comes with a manufacturers warranty. Now, once you purchase the vehicle it becomes your property and your domain. If you, the end user, decides to put a 6 inch lift on the truck, there by altering the suspension, or perform an engine swap, which both alter the OEM specs and configurations of the vehicle from the original layout from those noted during the original purchase, you there by void your warranty and forego any repair's via the manufacturer and are then left to your own accord to find an avenue to fix any issues that may result due to your personal modification/alteration of the vehicle from the manufacture's original specifications and layouts in which the warranty details. You are free to choose after purchase of that vehicle to alter the vehicle to your liking and the same is so for the iPhone. Do you expect a judge to send you to jail for altering something that you have purchased to fit your personal touch and liking's if it has not violated any actual law? It would be a travesty is such an event occurred......

The same goes for an iPhone. When you jailbreak an iPhone you are merely personalizing the phone to your specific tastes and stylization in which therefore when you jailbreak your iPhone you knowingly or unknowingly forego your warranty on your iPhone via apple just as one would if he or she would if they swapped the engine or suspension to that of a vehicle either new or used that is still has a manufacturers warranty.

And you are ?????? I think it's pretty obvious he was merely joking around. One would think that a vast majority or anyone capable to think logically would be able to tell that he was just joking around, but seeing has how things have been lately on MMi this sadly does not seem to be the case.

People, PLEASE think before you respond and re-read what a user has posted and try to truly understand what was trying to be conveyed before spouting off. This seems to be becoming an epidemic as of lately and which was a rarely exhibited event prior to news of a jailbreak for the iPhone 4 was unleashed to the masses.

When a Mac Genius plugs your iDevice into their computer, they run a Mac Application that shows diagnostic information such as Apps that have crashed lately, percentage of dropped calls, etc. I have seen Cydia show up on that list before, so Apple can definitely tell which applications you have installed, "extensions/plugins" I have no idea about.
    Dear Saurik,

this man speaks the truth, technically.

Apple does indeed know when your idevice is jailbroken even if Cydia does not show up on the list "recently crashed apps."
I'd rather be on two wheels.

If you knew he was only kidding then what was the point of your previous post?
your right those r mine but as you can see I dont have 30+ thanked and no thanks. Anyway this isnt a forum for stuff like this......reason I said just my opinion/view dont no them so cant judge. I think a simple hey MTB29ER so and so was jk because in no way did it say otherwise in that post and from my end seeing someone that has all the thanks and never thanked I can only assume and we all no what assumption does.

[QUOTE=kingmofo;5361359]Good on Saurik and the radio station for informing people what jailbreaking is about. many people that I know think jailbreaking is for getting illegal apps instead of being able to have full control of their device.

The radio host we can't see sounds like a douche bag

They all sounded like bags of douche. Except saurik of course.

"The next few days" -- Really? That's great. I have a 3Gs sitting here that can't be jailbroken because the owner didn't know he wasn't suppose to upgrade.

But more importantly, when it's finally jailbroken I'll be able to begin construction on my next theme, this time with a dialer and chat bubbles/ etc.

Is the phrase " in the next few days " a guessing phrase or is it a can-be-hope-on phrase ?
