Default Apple May Be Waiting For iPhone 4 Jailbreak to Release iOS 4 Software Update

The chatter from Apple Store sources maintains that if the release of iOS 4.0.1 is delayed, the culprit may be Apple's desire to wait until the iPhone 4 jailbreak is first released. When Apple recently announced a forthcoming firmware update, there was nothing firm about its release date. "A few weeks" is what we were told.

Well, it could just be that Apple has other objectives beyond correcting those nagging antenna and signal display issues. As with previous attempts by Apple to block exploits used to jailbreak, there is good reason to believe that Apple is endeavoring as we speak to roll out a patch for the hole used to jailbreak iOS 4. Of course, if we go down this road and wonder what else Apple could be waiting for, it's a no-brainer that Apple is on pins and needles waiting for the iPhone Dev Team's jailbreak for iPhone 4, which already exists and was proudly put on display recently much to our prompt salivating.

While there are sources clamoring about Apple's desire to patch the jailbreak before releasing iOS 4.0.1, it isn't clear how long Apple is willing to put off the release of the firmware update to achieve this "bonus goal." It's certainly not difficult to imagine having this objective in mind, but the longer the company waits to roll out the update, the more frustrated and angry current and prospective iPhone 4 buyers will grow - especially those convinced that a hardware problem can't be corrected with a software update.

Seeing as the reception issue is still there, and there's already a lawsuit being filed against apple, I highly doubt that they'll play the waiting game. They have an obligation to us to fix the problem, at least from my point of view.

    This.

It's funny to think that this story could be true.

    Patethic, non-story.

Not only are there no sources quoted, but haven't we learned that Apple store or AT+T employees don'y know jack ****?

Apple has way to many problems with this phone. I say just keep reporting your issues to Apple Care and the stores.

I agree. Time for all iPhone 4 users to write/call Apple to complain.

If Apple were smart, they'd just break something else in the update and then they'd have an excuse to release another update to fix it after JB is out :P Not that they ever need any excuse for a new update (3.1.3).

If apple is playing the waiting game, then their idiots. The dev team obviously isn't releasing the jailbreak until after the update, because they would of already if they wernt, since they know the updates coming. People are so impatient.

No sweat. I'll just return mine if there's no fix before my 30 days are up. It's not like I can't live without the iphone 4.

I really think Apple could care less about the jailbreak market anymore. They obviously havent changed their AppStore policies to fight it and if the rumors of the new jailbreak being true that works on all devices then I don't think a simple 4.0.1 update will fix the hole that they are using.

its known that apple does controlled leaks and this may very well be such an instance, even if only to buy them time as they try to fix the reception issue/bars conundrum.
