o rly? go ahead and create a fake header with REAL IP addresses corresponding to real locations. Make one that appears to be coming from me.

    I'll wait.

like most things, it's extremely difficult to fake without prior knowledge of Apple e-mail servers, proper IP addresses (all of which can be verified, as an IP address is similar to a finger print) and all of the other relevant mail server information.

stop apologizing for Jobs. he said this stuff. he should just own up to it, apologize and move on. nothing said in any of the e-mails allegedly sent from Jobs is in any way different from official Apple policy as of July 4, 2010 with regards to the iPhone 4.

*Apple says the phone has no problems.

*Apple has released internal documentation to tech support affirming this and offering no free bumpers.

*Apple has said people need to hold the phone differently.

it is what it is. the only question is to what degree the issue affects you and whether or not you're willing to live with its flaws in light of its benefits. I may be willing to just keep it because of all of the apps I already own and peripherals I own that connect to iDevices. But I have 3 good weeks to think it over. I am glad they're waving the restocking fees.

I would not be surprised to see a hardware revision coming in the Fall and we definitely won't see the same antenna design in the next iPhone.

Again, this only proves that it came from steve's account. THat doesn't mean for certain that he's the one that wrote it.

    Default Email's can be faked
About 5 years ago I did a tech demo for a client who wanted to secure their systems. One of the requirements was a secure email system. They had an incident where spam had been sent from their servers. I told them that while they could secure the server they would never be able to stop spammers using their address.

As a demo I set up a server in a virtual machine. I then looked up the MX servers for Microsoft and changed the ip address of the server to match. A few tweaks to the ADSL router to fix the route out and then composed an email from Bill Gates.

While I have no idea if these are real or fake it doesn't really take much know how to fake them and give lucid and valid details. Have the reply bcc'd to another account and you can easily build up a chain of emails.

Combine your obsession with writing about pointless rumors with the fact that you have no clue how to research/investigate anything and it's amazing they still allow you to write articles for the site.

Here's a quick list of pointers for improvement:

If the headline of your article ends with a question mark, go ahead and delete the article. There are too many rumors posted on here as it is.

Google makes researching/investigating things like this very very simple.

Hell, even by just following like 7 tech related twitter accounts you would learn more than enough information to boost the quality of your articles 10 fold.

You may be right, or you could be wrong about the author. I personally don't pay attention to who writes an article on here and don't believe a dam* thing on the internet until I see it with my own two eyes. But my question is... if these articles bother you so much, why read them? Why don't you do something more then complain about who writes them and try to get on mmi as a writer yourself. I believe the phrase I'm looking for is... "Put up or shut up".

Like I said. You may be right about this author. But don't complain if your not going to do anything about it.

    grasping at straws, my friend.

if you really want to fight that fight, go right ahead. but nothing written in those e-mails is contradicted by any of Apple's stances.

I think it's amusing that people still believe that email account ties to Jobs himself at all. It is public knowlege that the email address is handled by a team of representatives. Hell, this forum itself had an article about emails from this account a while back, that apple had been apologizing about, that the emails were not handled by him at all.

I honestly don't care about Steves emails- I mean, Apple is the name of the company: Not STEVE INC- there's a reason of why they have press releases, otherwise we'd all get newsletters from sjobs@apple

Well let's be honest here, Apple IS Steve Inc.

First off it is than, not then.

When you are a published writer, as Mr. Essany is (not just here on MMI, but in actual book form as well), you automatically open yourself up to the scrutiny of the general public.

I read them because he does have a good article from time to time. Furthermore, articles such as this are where the discussing the related topics takes place.

I'm not sure why so many find it hard to believe that Stevie boy could have written this. To me, considering his arrogance about Apple's infallability, that he very well could have written just this. Look at how they are handling the entire antenna fiasco if you need further proof.

The last 30 days of correspondence from Jobs reads like a view into some kind of deteriorating mind, like a Tom Cruise story.

The last thing they want to do is let people see this so their only choice, considering their arrogance, is to deny it ever took place.

I don't find it hard to believe in the least.

Oh, and just because someone CAN fake headers does not mean they did.

Wow, you just convinced me. I mean, after all, I don't want to be stupid!

Let me see if I can find all your previous posts where you point out how obviously this is false because, since you are so much smarter, I am sure you did point this out previously....

I think the question is not who wrote this, but how is apple gonna fix the death grip? I really wanna see the supposed "Software Fix" that was mentioned once, and does the bumper they suggest customers TO BUY, really stop the "death grip"?

Good point. All the hate against Apple (or any big successful biz for that matter) takes the focus off the real issue. I guess we will see if it works. I can't imagine that A company would be so bold as to say it will and not test the theory first. I hope that it works and the reason they took so long to reply with a solution was because they (apple not the figure head steve) wanted to be sure.

wow is it so far fetched to think that apple could lie and i don't know what the big deal is just wait for the patch. I don't know why everyone is up in arms over a BRAND NEW product having bugs, to the point that they are making class action law suits based on an antenna problem for a phone that is not even a month old, return the damn thing or sell it on ebay, i'll buy it, lol
