Verizon iPhone Sales Estimates Through The Roof
Within the last twenty-four hours, the prospect of a Verizon iPhone has markedly shifted from the "solid rumor" column into the "tentatively factual" category. As a result, analysts are weighing in on the juggernaut sales potential of the Apple smartphone if yesterday's Bloomberg report about the suspected end of AT&T's exclusivity actually manifests at the start of 2011.
On Wednesday morning, Yair Reiner of Oppenheimer said that Apple could possibly sell an additional 12 million iPhones yearly if Verizon begins to offer coverage in January when, as it now stands, Verizon is most likely to announce a deal with Apple at the Consumer Electronics Show. But as we've seen everywhere from the Bloomberg report to subsequent reader comments on MMi, not everyone is convinced that a Verizon iPhone is a done deal. Not even Reiner, who was careful to point to longstanding rumors and warned against "popping the champagne too early."
Nonetheless, the sales implications for Apple would be nearly unfathomable if a Verizon deal ultimately pans out. With estimates "through the roof," Apple would generate some $7 billion in incremental revenue from the projected 12 million additional iPhone sales on an annual basis - a projection that some analysts say might actually be "on the low side."
Presently carried in the US only by AT&T, Apple still managed to sell roughly 11 million iPhones during the past twelve months. Having the opportunity to sell the iPhone to Verizon's sizable base of 83 million subscribers all but certainly looks more appetizing to the powers that be in Cupertino than possibly any other growth strategy imaginable.

Is there some way to read the News on MMi and not see Messany's continued infatuation with Verizon?

LOL I love how people who have no factual proof speculate this nonsense.
if anything T-mobile will get it noT Verizon...
1. T-mobile already does business with APPLE/iphones overseas.
2. No need for another phone to be developed specifically for CDMA.
the current one will work fine on T-mobile.
Apple would be kinda retarded to bring Verizon into the mix.
So your saying then a Verizon Ipad too.
Lol u Verizon FanBoys are worse then apple and droid combined.
Not to mention signing with T-mobile will probably bump Sprint down a notch and bring T-mobile into the Top 3 Carriers here in the US.

Here we go again....
Messany do you ever read the comments to your various Verizon articles? If you did, you'd realize that 90% of the responses are from people who are tired of hearing from rumors and want FACTS from PRIMARY SOURCES (ie. Apple, Verizon) and not some pundit speaking and making rumors/predictions. You have got to stop with this. Every time, it's you.

I seriously can't wait for this to happen! I just hope that Verizon will be kind to those whose contracts doesn't end by January 2011...

If this is true, I'll be switching to Verizon in 2012 when the successor to the iPhone 4 comes out. Unless at&t's service dramatically improves when half of their iPhone subscribers switch over.
This report is also in line with at&t's decision to allow customers who are eligible to upgrade in 6 months to upgrade now to the iPhone 4.

You guys are already forgetting that Verizon has alreaded stated that the 4G network they are switching to will be LTE. Basically Verizon will be switching to GSM sometime in the near future.. Whether or not the frequencies will be in line with what ATT uses will remain to be seen..

The rubber (bumper) makes all the difference!
I don't know what's more humorous safe-talk or iphone abstinence........ DROID!

I highly doubt that Apple will bring an LTE device to market this soon when there will be virtually no coverage, and China wanted a CDMA iPhone, let's not forget that China's CDMA subscribers dwarf both sprint and verizon, and they would see far more money there.
I highly doubt Apple will push out a CDMA, or LTE in the near future.

another launch and yet another rumor. each rumor gains momentum from those that want to believe but they are always let down. This article does a great job at summing everything up

No, No.. I doubt LTE will roll out soon. Im just saying that its a possibility that that Verizon will switch to GSM first. Just like its a possibility they MAY get the iPhone.. Anything is possible.
06-30-2010, 12:26 PM #18
u are all wrong there will be a verizon phone and it will be cdma and once they switch to the LTE then they will change the verizon iPhone. Apples wants that revenue and they will get it cause there gonna go multiple carriers in the very near future
