my 3g would sometimes do this. [i dont think its an i4 bezel/antenna issue] so far my i4 has not had one issue at all with this.

Same here signal bars just drop completely as if you are shorting out the two separate antennas. That's why they have the bumper case.

I just picked mine up and I'm having to hold it with a napkin so I won't loose signal. If they don't fix it I'm returning it!

So far so good
mine and my dads phones just came in about 2 hours ago probably. we've both been dreading trying this out with all the videos and what not. activated and tried it right away. neither one of us lost a single bar. my phone just fully charged up and i took the cover off (i planned on buying one regaurdless of the reception problem) and i lost only 1 bar. then put it down and it went right back to 5. ill try again later on today and see what happens but so far neither of ours has reception problems or yellow spots. sick *** phone. i love it.

I just tried this with my iphone 3gs on 3.1.3 and it does the same thing I lose signal goes to no service phone I hold it like on the video it goes back to signals..I never experienced this before because I always had a case on my iphone since day 1 so I never actually hold it on the actual phone

People need to stop talking about getting a case/bumper for their iPhone. This is a problem that apple must and will fix! Shorting the antennas or conduction of antennas cannot be caused or fixed by software. The calls have been proven to drop and not just "show" a weak reception. Speeds have been tested and shown to decrease when holding the band.
Apple will most likely have to do a quick in apple store service/repair for this, or recall all units. Not to be pesamistic but only realistic.
Thankfully I live in Canada, the phone has not been released here yet, and so by the time it comes, it will be a revised version.

The 2 iPhone 4G's I got yesterday both lose bars when held. They better fix this up fast. There is no way I will settle for an expensive "magical" phone that I have to use a bandaid on it so it works as it should. Not gonna happen. Bumpers my asss!
