What restrictions are you talking about?

I'm a helpful jerk, fear me.

Here we go again ....... Let me count the ways ... (haha

Restore to factory shipped software, internet connection required for any factory restore. The whole activation process. The list goes on and on.

This IS a computer. This is almost my primary computer. Haha. I use the iPhone computing aspects 5x more than on my personal computer.

I would never buy a computer with any of these artificially imposed Apple restrictions -- and neither would most others.

It's time for Apple and the world to wake up and treat this iDevice like it really is. But then again, I'm not an Apple fanboy either.

And did I mention expandability? Apple could double or tripple their iDevice revenue with real USB host access.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, acts like a duck .........

They usually don't announce hardware detailed specs at WWDC. It was seen in an official page that Apple sent to devs. So this is true

The closest thing to iPhone 4 on the Android side of things would be the EVO 4G which has 512MB RAM and 1Ghz Snapdragon. The Droid Incredible also has 512MB RAM, slower processor I believe.

The HTC Desire has 1GHz Snapdragon and 576mb(around that figure) of RAM I believe.

So, you got an Iphone, you use it 500% more than your regular PC, despite it having all these limitations?

So with all these restrictions you can still use it as your primary computer?

Seems to me like Apple don't have to change anything

Woops, totally forgot about that one. The HTC HD2 also has 576mb RAM as well. I think those are it for now.

@redcard: You're missing the whole point. These iDevices could replace a computer ... absolutely... if Apple didn't artifically impose restrictions.

It the all-mighty dollar that keep Apple from releasing the iDevice and allow it's full potential to come to life.

Money is like power .. And absolute power corrupts.

    @igrays... funny but so true.

My 1st computer had 4KB memory with a 5MB disk and cost almost $15K. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay for it

    And weighed 75kg !!!

Incredible has a 1Ghz Snapdragon as well. The underclocking was a lie.

Could replace the computer for some casual users probably. Some people use many programs that aren't compatible with iDevices. For example, I'm in college for graphic design, there is no way I would choose an iDevice over a PC. Many people also use flash daily, and prefer a larger screen size. Can't forget about the pc gamers either.
