iPhone 3.1.3 and 4.0 Carirrer Unlocks To Follow iPhone OS 4.0 Release



MuscleNerd has given some reassuring words to his twitter followers today, in what seems the calm before the storm. While to most of us, this is nothing new, as we usually can expect these releases to follow shortly after a new update is announced from Apple, however, It's been 4 months since iPhone OS 3.1.3 was unleashed upon us, causing many users to lose their unlocking abilities, many of which flood twitter and forums asking for when the 3.1.3 unlock will become available, and now they'll once again get some motivating words to hold out, as the unlocks are right around the corner.

Hopefully that will put to rest a some followers out there that continue to slam the Dev-Team with these release date questions. WWDC is upon us tomorrow and we are expecting Apple to finally give us a release date on the new iPhone OS 4.0 and as soon as this happens, you'll be sure that the unlock will follow just a few days/week later.

Just remember folks, be patient, we're almost there. You've held out this long, you'll make it a few more days/weeks.

I hope they mean 5.12.01 or 5.13.x unlock not simply update to 4 and keep 5.11.07 and use blacksn0w...

Really makes no difference whether they release the 3.1.3 (05.12.01) unlock now or later. The new models and/or new firmwares never release with the same modem firmwares as the beta or previous official iPhone softwares anyway.

All of the basebands will be unlocked... That is why he said the iPhone HD will be carrier unlocked too.

Lucky I read his Twitter, I have a feeling that the 3.1.3 unlock wouldn't be coming if the iPhone 2g was getting 4.0

Actually it makes a HUGE difference because if the exploit they use to unlock 5.12.01 also exists in the final baseband version of 4.0 then Apple would have the opportunity to patch it way before the new iPhone and 4.0 is released and the Dev Team would then have to search for a different one. This is the /entire/ reason they have no released the unlock for 3.1.3 for the last 4 months.

I don't know much of Tmobile but I have family who want the new iPhone for Tmobile so here's my question. Does Tmobile use micro sims too? As far as I know the new iPhone will have a micro sim like the ipad from AT&T. What good is the unlock if Tmobile doesn't have micro sims

You can cut down the normal size SIM cards to fit the micro SIM tray. This is how users are using t-mobile SIMS in the iPad.
