The iPhone HD and 4th gen iphone are the same thing lol. Just speculation as to what they will be named. We don't know what the iPhone will be called when it is released let alone do we know what next year's model will be called or what it will contain lol.

Really? No one saw this coming? My mother has expressed interest in an iPhone for a couple of months and I told her to hold off until June hit because the 3GS would move into the $99 price slot.
My bro-in-law bought a 3G and was told that he had a limited amount of time to exchange it for a 3GS + price difference. So go now!
About $325+ come June 1st - ModMyI.com did an article on it a couple of days ago. Right now its $175.

As I said in previous posts...the 3GS will take the 3G spot. It is a no brainer. Phasing out the 3G will make it easier to push out firmwares for Apple. 2 devices. Next year the 4G will take the 3GS's spot.

05-25-2010, 09:09 AM #31Thats absurd. I was about to renew my contract when the 4G came out but was then going to back out of the contract and sell those phones then go elsewhere (Sprint, Verizon)to get away from AT&T . They must of saw that coming.About $325+ come June 1st - ModMyI.com did an article on it a couple of days ago. Right now its $175.

So would the $175 cancellation fee still apply as long as the phone was bought prior to June 1st? If so, how many times could one sign up and later cancel?

It only applies after June 1st. You have to make it through 1 months service before cancelling though because if you ancel before that time you have to return the phone or pay full price for it.

Ouch!
I was at a AT&T store this morning in the DC area and they are also selling 3GS's for 99 bucks (well ok a few more then Walmart but who cares?) Also one of the reps at the store told me that the new iPhone coming out will NOT be subsidized and it will cost a cool 699 bucks to purchase (16GB or 32GB for 899!)
I think I'll be hitting up the HD2...I'm not paying Apples ******* inflated prices I'm sick of Steve Jobs ********. Damn to the person who donated their liver to that slumlord!

So what does this mean? I'd like to buy one as a present for my gf in Thailand, and sit on it until unlock for BB is available after 4,0 OS release. Can I still avail myself of the US$175 cancellation fee, or will the one month service requirement kill it?
Maybe I'll just give her my 3GS when the 4G is available here in Japan, but I have not heard any time frame from Softbank for the rollout. That said, japan just passed a law prohibiting carrier locking; goes into effect November. Should make for some interesting smartphone choices for people outside Japan, as the phone selection here is very cool.Last edited by xpate; 05-26-2010 at 03:05 AM.
