OpenPwn - Open-Source Payload Development Platform
With the number of vulnerabilities dwindling in the iPhone OS, there is never been a better time to get the community more involved in developing jailbreaks. When most people in the community decide they would like to help out and try to investigate how to go about it, they typically find little or no help in doing so. Even the official documentation that is available, is typically hard to understand, and in most cases, out-dated information.
The goal of OpenPwn is to give would-be developers a simple, clear, and easy to understand starting point for developing jailbreaks. OpenPwn is a simple open-source payload. There will be many examples of how to use this payload to achieve different goals. As developers use OpenPwn to build their payloads, the hope is that they keep their work open-source and share it. This will give people an opportunity to see, add-to, or change payloads to work with their own payload efforts.
OpenPwn itself is not a jailbreak. It is not an unlock. It is blank slate for developers to build payloads upon. Currently OpenPwn is mac only, but there is plans to develop a windows version. OpenPwn was developed by DarkMalloc in an effort to strengthen our jailbreak community.
OpenPwn will be released this Saturday. To find out more information and to see OpenPwn in action check out: OpenPwn
Information from DarkMalloc:
The main hope for OpenPwn is for it to be the place where people of any ability can go to share and contribute to a number of open source payloads, created using the simple OpenPwn platform.
The hardest thing for people new to the community is to learn. Many of the more experience hackers are busy with, well… hacking. They haven't got time to teach people. This, I realized, was the biggest problem with the iPhone hacking scene.
OpenPwn is going to be somewhere where anyone can contribute to existing payloads, create new ones, or share ones with others. The whole idea of OpenPwn is for it to be entirely Open-Source. Anything I ever release will be open-source, so I hope yours will too!
All of this combined results in a really nice platform for iPhone payload development! Enjoy and contribute!

Wouldn't apple be able to see this also? Probably patch stuff as it's being developed no?

^^^ The same way the dev team keeps hush hush about new jailbreaks and exploits, anyone working in something legit should too. One more thing for people "of any ability to learn."

Great idea Stealth!!! I hope this can become a popular, yet hidden/safe way for us to expand on each others ideas. Too bad this concept hasn't been discussed before now., and if it has.... Wish I wouldve known about it.
Jailbreak all iPhone FW! FTW!!!!!!!!!!

Jailbreakers vs Jailmakers, strength is in numbers , great idea of combining effort.

This will be teach you how to jailbreak. not will it give u the exploit. so apple can patch... they will just show you the path. u have to go on that path thats it.

Yeah great idea, Apple can than anonymous join the effort and make jailbreaking a thing of the past.
Now carry on please, there's nothing to see here!

Make It So.
Experience shows that relying on the efforts of those who come before us strengthens our own abilities for those who come after us. In other words, never stop learning, then pass it on. Bra-vo.

@GeeThreeForce They already are keeping very close eye on jailbreaking and fix exploits as soon as they can, but still it cannot stop people from thinking and finding a new way to jailbreak whatever is current as future is unpredictable anyway

I know it's not out yet, but I'm assuming some background knowledge is going to be needed to successfully do anything with this?
or will it be the type of thing where putting the time in will work?

If you put some time into it, you will have some successes. The reality is this will teach people how to start off. When someone finds something worth keeping private, then that will be done.
