I still haven't done rooted the phone yet. I get permissioned denied when trying to copy the su to data/local
Although I can connect to the phone. Try to access your wireless router and check for attached devices. The name of the phone should match its name in iTunes (iPhone mode). Don't forget to open/port forward port 5555 for the Android on your router.
EDIT: Wow!!! I got it rooted. Now I can reboot to iPhone without having to use a hard reset.
I had to reupdate the files using the iDroid 1.0a (it's a torrent somewhere). Version a is more stable and the touchscreen is more accurate (the old one was skewed to the left).Last edited by ddominator; 04-25-2010 at 07:51 AM.

i cant get it to boot back into android.. it keeps scanning the ftl virtual blocks in the start up and in the linux kernel... it takes over an hour to check them and then jumps to a black screen :/ im thinking i need to redo it.. and the directions for root say i need to put files in system 32 for windows.
the adb.exe.. i need to access that first and i dont have a windows machine..
is anyone else having this problem with hard reset?

The progress of the iDroid community has increased. Rooting, then how to install apps (.apk) and SD card emulation (buggy).
http://www.idroidproject.org/wiki/Install_packages(apk)
Here's how to install apks to the android running iphone.
It also teaches Mac users how to load the adb files.
This is how it goes:
Fire up Terminal (in Mac) then enter these commands:
>cd Downloads
>wget url=http://developer.android.com/sdk/download.html?v=android-sdk_r05-mac_86.zip
>unzip android-sdk_r05-mac_86.zip
>tar xzvf android-sdk_r05-mac_86.zip
>echo "PATH=$PATH:~/Downloads/android-sdk-mac_86/tools" >> ~/.profile
>restart terminal
Hope that helps in installing the ADB so macs can also root and install packages.Last edited by ddominator; 04-26-2010 at 08:05 AM.

We need to find or create an application to enable some sort of sleep mode to turn off the screen somehow. I'll try looking for apps that may just do the trick.

Hack that Phone - Installing Android on the 1st generation iPhone
Can someone help me? I'm on step 3 and it says to "decompress" this file. I clicked on the link and all I got was the firmware-extractor.c file (no firware-extractor.zip file as in the illustration)
What am I missing here?

We could actually emulate an SD card after rooting the iDroid. It could be any size, from 100MB to a possible maximum of 2GB.
