This is the first helpful post I have seen in a while. While other people are saying "if you have to ask the answer is no" and such, it is good to see someone who wants to help, and will take time not to be a ****.

Not many people have posted on the usability of it.
From reading over the thread, it looks like the following:
Runs very well. Faster than in the original YouTube video.
You might have a problem with you WIFI though.
I don't have a 2g iPhone anymore, so I can't try it out. I am anxious to see a review on it.wwjd

He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I just got it going...lol..Theres a wiki which in turn, is a very good guide. Make sure you have your firmware extracted and in the spot were it's supposed to be or it will boot...and then crash..lol
I did it last night, but didn't have my firmware in the right place, and it didn't work. I fixed it today..lol..
The screen is VERY touch, so if you have fat fingers...Good luck. I am dual booting Ubuntu 9.10/Windows 7 and did the SSH in Windows and everything else in Ubunutu.
I'm not an expert at it, but if you need some help, I can try..lol

I noticed when I was putting my files on my iphone via iphone explorer, It was not uploading all the files full size. so I would get what you did, reading baseband nvram... done. So I went back and made sure they were all uploaded correctly and re did everything via terminal on my vm and when I rebooted I held down home for a few seconds and 2 min later it booted up in droid...songs, wifi, and phone calls work..its pretty awesome seeing how I never used my 2g iphone anymore..now I can play with it once again..

Wow this is great!!! I got it installed a few hours ago and I'm really liking it. I think I have great luck since my 2g can make calls, send and receive texts, and surf via wifi.
By the way I followed androidalot's guide and it was easy for a noob like me (no Linux background whatsoever). I actually used VirtualBox for Windows 7 and the only hitch in installation was that the USB drivers weren't loading well (maybe it's my PC, but if others have this problem, PM me on how I fixed it).
Just don't like having no real power button (hard reset then reboot into iPhone OS).
EDIT: I've reseted and put back into iPhone OS. But on trying to go back to Android, it's just stuck/hanged at WELCOME TO OPENIBOOT. Help please? I can still use the iPhone OS though.
EDIT 2: I'm an idiot. I forgot that I should hold the home button while selecting openiboot rather than just tapping it.

Just finished porting Android on my iPhone yesterday. Basic phone functions work well, but we still have big issues:
- No option to turn screen off while idle or with a command. Any settings to enable this?
- No Android Market app for this build.
- Media files previously installed on the iPhone are inaccessible via Android.
- No available options for Ringtones other than default.
- Ringtone only rings once, no vibrate option.
- No camera/video camera function.
For those who can't figure out how to navigate through Android with the iPhone controls, these are the key maps:
Power Button Back/Previous
Home Button Unlock, Home Screen Options (Add, Wallpaper, etc.)
Volume Up Button Shortcut for Call Log
Volume Down Button Back to Home Screen
Silent Mode Rocker Switch None
And I really want to have that screen fixed. It always stays on no matter what, draining the battery rather quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

I just installed it right now and as I can say it's still kinda unusable, let's just wait for a more stable release, right now I'm gonna still be using Iphone OS. But still the idea is great and I enjoyed having just installed android on my phone.

Okay, here's a bit of a problem: I could not boot Android again. Some people experience this, being stuck in a black screen after the Android logo loads. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to root the device in order to properly shut down.
