Canadians Dish on the New iPhone's June Debut

Earlier on ModMyi, I reported that Apple may be planning to reveal the new iPhone in June. On the heels of new reports today, we can probably shift from using the word "may" to "will" when discussing Apple's plan for the next gen iPhone's big reveal this June. Of all the potential sources for confirmation, it seems that a Canadian wireless provider (SaskTel) is opening up about the 4th generation iPhone, which according to SaskTel CEO Robert Watson, will be available as early as July 1st after a late June introduction.
"The good news is that (Apple) is coming out with a new version of the iPhone in the June time-frame and they're going to put us on that. So we're quite excited about that'' Watson tells the "Leader-Post." While the Yerba Buena Center's public calendar hasn't yet reflected a booking for June 22nd, sources inside Apple claim that the team has the date on "standby" and that if June 22nd isn't utilized as presently planned, the new iPhone will be rolled out a few days later on June 28th when WWDC 2010 kicks off.
Nonetheless, it now appears that late June will, indeed, perpetuate the summer tradition of a new iPhone launch. Last year, June 8th was the date of the grand reveal, while the official on-sale date for the iPhone 3GS was June 19. 2010, however, could be a whole new ball of wax for Apple, which is still rumored to be working on two new iPhones - the 4th gen to be unveiled in June, and a CDMA capable iPhone (that may be available on the Verizon network) that wouldn't be released until September.
With the new iPhone OS already announced and on the minds of iPhone, iPod, and iPad owners and developers everywhere, Apple has very little to gain from putting off the unveiling of a new iPhone. And for this reason, it's a safe bet that we won't have to wait beyond the suspected June time frame to get our first look at the new iPhone... at least one of them

It's great to be Canadian. But of all the places to get the info, it comes from a paper in Saskatchewan? Figured it would come out of Rogers in Toronto, Ontario. :P

Boy is it good to have this reassurance that we will have a new iPhone in June. I was worried that we wouldn't see updates like we have have on every Apple handheld product since iPod.

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

I'd like to know what the new iPhone is going to have in terms of hardware. Any rumors? 1ghz processor? 1gb of memory? 5 or 8 mb cam? larger screen? "anxiously taps with fingers"

It's funny. You think that Apple releases a new phone each and every year so far and they sell like crazy! I for one have had one since the first and will always upgrade when available.
I think it would be different if they released crap products, but all in all I have been happy with each and every iPhone I have had. I was a heavy BB user and I do not think I will ever have a phone other than an iPhone. Who knows what the future holds, but say what you want, Apple releases some damn good stuff!!
Phones or firmware may not have this or that when they are released, but for the most part, Apple seems to eventually get them to us. Jailbreaking brings you things until Apple "steals" it and puts it in the stock phone.
Just gets better and better for sure IMHO.
