Isn't this just another rumor too? lol I doubt there'll be multitasking, maybe just the 3GS, the others couldn't be able to handle it.

I'm much more excited for wireless itunes syncing, something the jailbreak community can't even accomplish.

How exactly does this confirm a rumor?

"Until now, reports of full multitasking support on the iPhone have been based almost entirely on rumor and speculation."

"Wu's sources inside Apple leaked the info shortly after Thursday's event was announced."

The information is still coming from an all knowing source. Give me a break.

And Gene Munster is as big a moron. He posted that Apple sold 700,000 iPads over the weekend and then Apple came out Monday and released news they had sold 300,000. Know how Munster got that 700,000 number? He called Apple stores about how long the lines were and averaged it out over 200 US based Apple stores then doubled or tripled it.

Sure, all rumors are now vindicated by another source. Slow news day, huh...

Now I don't need an unlock I could actually play with the beta.
All I need to do is find a dev to add my udid....

you can't win them all. but you do gotta admit when Apple does decide to do it.... they do it better. native MMS > swirlymms, native video recording > cycorder & iphone video recorder, hell just buying from the Appstore is easier than buying from Cydiastore. but again u can't win them all those of us that have jailbroken/are jailbroken know it's worth the longer, complicated process to get what we want our iPhones to do.

Wasn't there a jailbreak solution to run 3.0 beta last time? Cause I can remember running the beta without getting my UDID registered. PwnageTool worked some magic or something

And frankly, the beta messed up some app store apps and blew up some MS extension compatibility, so I probably won't update till the real deal

OS 4.x is free for all iPad customers.

Apple will provide you any iPad OS software updates that it may release from time to time, up to and including the next major iPad OS software release following the version of iPad OS software that originally shipped from Apple on your iPad, for free. For example, if your iPad originally shipped with iPad 3.x software, Apple would provide you with any iPad OS software updates it might release up to and including the iPad 4.x software release. Such updates and releases may not necessarily include all of the new software features that Apple releases for newer iPad models.

I'm pretty sure Stealth is tied to a dev account too.

Also, why is everyone being so negative in advance? Just wait for the update to actually drop, then if it's as bad as you guys make it out to be, you can complain.

What I meant is they're not going to say "And we're adding multitasking to the iPhone! However, it will not be available for any iPhone versions including and preceding the 3G S." They'll have to announce a new phone right there, then.

I know they did the voice control thing, but that was more hardware than software as hackers can't even get that working on the 3G. (Bluetooth and MMS were just dumb software restrictions.)
