Weekly Jailbreak Update: February 22nd, 2010

What's New:
Gimp, Wimp, or Pimp - It's not often we see many games come out on Cydia. This app however is a game you might check out if you are extremely bored. The concept of the game is to see who can hold the iPod or iPhone the most steadily, and the longest, held out at arms reach.
OwnSpy - Another app that addresses tracking and spying on phone information. This one definitely seems more geared towards the "spying" aspect rather than just tracking your phone, because it will allow you to export SMS, Address Books, CallHistory, Pictures taken, App Usage and of course the location via GPS. It is completely hidden from the user and uninstallation is done externally. This app runs for $1.35.
ShrinkURL - This app is fairly straightforward. Simply shrink an URL and copy it to the clipboard.
FastPhotoLibrary - An Photos app replacement, which allows you to assign an activation method so you can quickly launch Photos from any app, at any time, including from the lockscreen. The application is pretty much identical to the stock Photos app, but provides a much more convenient way of loading up photos. This app goes for $1.49.
ScreenDimmer - A convenient battery saving tool that allows you to determine when the screen should dim, after a certain amount of time. You can even turn the backlight completely off. Although I find SBSettings to work just fine for adjusting brightness manually, this one could be usefull. This app goes for $0.99
LastApp - This app keeps track of your previously used application and allows you to return to it quickly. You can switch back and forth between the apps by assigning an activation method. This app will also work in conjunction with Backgrounder.

First off this is the wrong section to ask that question. You should post this question in the iPhone modding forum section. But anyway. I'm assuming you mean is your device jailbreakable and not unjailbreakable. It can be jailbroken i think you have to either use snowbreeze or redsnow 0.9
Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong people.

Cool up dates, but a solid jailbreak is the cats meow...
Im on a 3GS 3.1.2 with a tethered jailbreak... not such a big deal but i have to be all over the battery power..
Would love a solution!!!

SBS toggle FTW. I actually use this toggle more than any other. If there wasn't an SBS toggle, I don't think I'd spend a buck on it though.Last edited by Conas; 02-22-2010 at 06:00 PM. Reason: Code corrections

I am a bit concerned about OwnSpy - I am not a legal expert but even if it is legal in the US, I do doubt it's legality in the UK. Maybe I'm wrong, but if the cydia store is selling apps that are illegal it could open a can of worms.
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Getting a summary of new apps is great and all, but sorry for being harsh.. but WTF does that have to do with updating us on jailbreak status.... It should be called weekly cydia update??? Don't get me wrong, very useful to see the new available apps... But I can use cydia, iTunes, apptrackr..... for that... I understand the dev team does what they do on their own time (and they don't owe us anything... that's normal. But when i'm told of weekly jailbreak updates... I expect to get weekly jailbreak updates.. not some app reviews... i'm just afraid MMi turns in to one of those cheesy french iphone news site... unrelated, incompetent, illiterate, useless writers.... And most of the members enjoy them... seriously.. WTF!!!!
iPhone 4 16 GB + iMac 24" 2.9GHz + MBP 13" 2,2GHZ = AAPL 4 EVAAAA!

That is not the only spy software available. Only difference is that one is actually not expensive compared to the other ones.
Mobile Spy - The Smartphone SMS Spy Software for BlackBerry, Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile and Symbian OS Platform Cell Phone
Catch Cheating Spouses with FlexiSPY - Spy Phone, GPS Tracker, Location Tracking, Remote Listening for Mobile / Cell Phones
This app is very deceptive. You have no idea how much it costs until you register. I installed it on my iphone to check it out and every ten minutes you get a pop up to register your account on their web page. No way to get rid of the push notification.
I then registered and there is a recurring monthly charge to use it, with different monthly tiered plans available.
I tried to remotely uninstall it but not sure if it worked.
If you want to see a demo of how the app works you can go to:
OwnSpy - Log in
Top right hand corner there is a demo button.
Okay, the uninstall didn't work. Now it's sending a push notification asking you to pick a monthly plan every ten minutes. Sent the developer an email. If he is requiring a purchase to uninstall it, it would be epic fail.
Update: You can uninstall this via Cydia or Rock.Last edited by Slocko; 02-23-2010 at 01:08 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
