02-16-2010, 09:09 AM #41Err... so they will be hurting themselves then, by blocking people from itunes, they will be stopping people from spending money.. yeah, that makes alot of sense... durr back!!It's called the iTunes App Store and, even if you didn't know that, you do know that it requires an iTunes account to use it. Now do you see how it hurts them? No account = no purchases from the App Store. Durr...

I would disagree, I know many people with JB'd iphones, all done for customisation, and not for installing pirated software.. appstore apps are cheap enough... I would imagine this is why the vast amount of people JB their device, for open source apps etc.. not to install a priated appsrtore app that costs a couple of quid...Quote:

(which they won't).....
LOL my Nexus One has just arrived, My number is being ported to T-Mobile, My 3GS will make a great ipod! Yea T-Mo has a new (sparse) 3G network but I don't care. Their unlimited everything plan, compared to AT&T (with 17% employee discount) still saves me over $30 a month. I'm just saying that not everyone is bluffing.

[QUOTE=istinkles;5125935][quote=M4tt Dam0n;5125895]Yea but it's not nearly as easy to hack an xbox. and it lets you of course play pirated games, but also CHEAT on xbox live. Thats what I think is the main reason for microsofts actions.quote]
You are ill informed anytime someone says someone else is cheating its because they are pissed off that they are loosing modded 360s don't allow cheating of any kind and any cheats that may be used are usable by everyone not just modded 360 uses and get patched out in updates pretty quick.
(Most Cheats are save modifiers which anyone can do by simply connecting their 360 harddrive to their PC using an official M$ harddrive transfer cable that came with the 120GB harddrive to date there have been like 4 possible xbl cheats and they all got patched out very quickly.)
Now recently M$ banned a large majority of modded 360s because they found a way to read the hacked FW (just a drive FW which allowed booting burned discs not running unsigned code so no cheats) right after they banned almost 90% of all modded 360s hackers got fed up and released a new hack in which you actually modify the 360s files instead of just the dvd drive with this new hack unsigned code can be ran on the 360 meaning you will likely see a bunch of cheaters on xbl now pretty sad really because all this means is that thanks to M$ banning all those people now they are all going to get new 360s with the ability to actually cheat online.

lol! I thought the same thing... A Topic like this gets all the people so "security freaked" as if Apple is tracking EVERYONE and all 'normal' end users... and "will iTunes know im JB'd" or "how did apple know that your a hacker".. .
lol.. . people.. come on, use common sense.. these people who are blocked are those people are there that are GLOBALLY known as being a iPhone hacker... because they, themselves PUBLISH this info. As its pretty easy no adays to link data together and then block that email address.. and or any info from that registered email address... cause you know a lot of them register their blogs using the same email they use for their iTunes (yes, it does happen) .. .
none the less.. iTunes isn't blocking people who are JB'd.. just people who are KNOWN public hackers...

Ya it's people using apptrackr and stuff..but also I still believe in apple a little bit. I think we have some privacy. If apple just took one look at this website they already know who all to block, it'd just be a matter of getting their account info. The fact that they got the info to me is the scary part

There are so many things wrong with this post, but I'll just go with the most obvious. You have your phone and you can do as you want with it. The iTunes/App Store are different. You didn't buy the app store. You don't own, rent or anything else the app store. It is a service Apple provides to you. You own a fridge you bought from walmart. That's cool. But if you go to walmart and ram your car in to their walls they can ban you from there. Sure, you bought the fridge from them, and sure walmart has food for that fridge, but that doesn't mean they can't ban you from the store. Same thing here. You have the iPhone. You can do w/e you want with it. But if you hack and it affects the app store(piracy or leads the way to piracy) then they have the right to ban you from the store. Your phone still works, you just can't get more apps for it. Just like the fridge will still work, you just can't get more food for it. Of course you can always go to another store to get food, just like you can go to cydia to get apps. May not have the same brands, but it still works. No one forces you to take the Apple firmware updates either. They entice you to with new features, but Apple is not holding a gun to your head and telling you to update. You are free to stay at whatever firmware you want and to do whatever you want with your phone. They don't control that. They do control the store though.

^That Man Speaks Truth.
I swear to god, every day I hear more things that make me second guess my decision to get another iPhone. WinMo 7 is seksi, and I already have 3+ years of experience with custom Roms and the like (
A-Developers FTW). iPhone 4 had better be epic. Not just a feature update or a camera addition, the UI needs updating to stay competitive.

i think everyone is missing the issue here. I don't think his app store account was banned, but his actually app store dev account which I think is different. Banning his dev account does in turn result in financial loss for both sharif and Apple, but there's no telling why exactly they banned him. I doubt they be dumb enough to ban all jailbreakers. Apple isn't that dumb.

FAIL
So, you are jailbroken and stealing software, these are the ones that ruin it for us all. Yet apple decides to ban all jailbroken devices.
...
So, these guys stealing software are not phased, continue to steal software. People that jailbreak for extra features get screwed and apple loses more profit.
HA.
EPIC FAIL.

They aren't going to block you from the App Store if your a jailbreaker. They have no way of telling that. they are just singling out known hackers of their OS, the people that come out with the exploits and the applications. and all they have to do is use a different account, or just buy from a different store.

Good God man, stop digging your hole deeper. You ask...
...and I reply with exactly...
...and you reply with:
DUH! That's exactly what I just finished saying to you and what others have been saying all along in this thread, prompting your silly question in the first place. What do you think was the whole point people were trying to make? Ugh. Them = Apple; not the hackers. People keep saying that Apple is only hurting themselves and this is one way that they are doing that.Last edited by CZroe; 02-16-2010 at 12:03 PM.

Dumb move Apple.
This only invite more hacking.
If hackers is good enough to hack your system, he can get by this ban.

Modding an Xbox is only useful for stealing games, or cheating online. Big difference. Though I guess jailbreaking could be kind of cheating in a way.
What I'm really worried about here soon is OTA updates like other platforms and carriers do. This jailbreak community would be absolutely screwed if they forced updates OTA and not allow you to ignore it. That would really suck!Last edited by KartRacer; 02-16-2010 at 12:11 PM.
