RedSn0w 0.9 Released for Mac and Windows

The first beta of RedSn0w 0.9 for Mac and Windows has been unveiled, with version 0.9 enabling jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing of the iPhone OS 3.0/3.1.2 software.

It appears as if the iPhone Dev-Team is back at it again. The group has managed to release the RedSn0w 0.9 Beta jailbreak for all iPhones and the first and second generation iPod Touches today for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Strangely enough - and due to what’s being called “last minute software changes” - the Dev Team hasn’t rolled out the release yet with grand fanfare. Fortunately, however, we do know what to expect from the update. According to iClarified:

• It uses our original Pwnage bootrom exploit for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod 1G. (Because it’s a bootrom exploit, it can’t be fixed by Apple without a new hardware release.) Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple’s next firmware release.
  
• It offers custom logos and verbose boot
  
• It installs Cydia without needing a separate download

Despite blackra1n thriving as the jail breaking tool of choice, the new version of redsn0w could resonate with jail breakers new and old and perhaps become the hottest new tool in jail breaking.

The RedSn0w jailbreak isn’t quite as fast as Blackra1n, but it is capable of handling more variations, according to the report.

I have an old bootrom 3gs using windows 7, when i run this no pictures come up and just stays on a black blank screen. cydia never installs or anything. i have tried to write musclenerd but never heard anything. hopefully it gets fixed soon because i hate blackrain. tired of gps,wifi,and youtube always messing up and all the so called ''fixes'' never working

what about 3gs running 3.1.2 and usin the old boot rom. Is that something that Apple an fix? and if they do does that mean you will need to find another exploit?. What happened to "one jailbroken, always jailbroken" ?

Yes but it will be tethered.

I generally prefer blackra1n for my jailbreaking needs since it's SUPER fast, but the unlock seemed to be a little buggy. I will try redsnow for the unlock and see if it's any better

because the dev team is more reliable and less buggy. ill choose dev team over geohot anyday because their tools are much better than his

Oh my gosh, can we PLEASE get an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3gs with iBoot-359.3.2???? I am hoping and praying for a miracle! Does anyone think this will ever happen? I don't feel comfortable with a tethered jailbreak...

it does offer more than blackrain. custom boot logos,verbose boot, and all around more stable and trustworthy. blackrain is wayyy too buggy. who cares how fast it is. wow an extra minute. worth it to have less problems

Custom boot logo? Come on now...who cares for that? Also, how is blackra1n buggy? I have used it on my 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and a friend's 3G. No problems whatsoever since it was released.
