AT&T Drops Unlimited Plan Price

Hours after rival Verizon Wireless announced cheaper unlimited plans, AT&T said it would lower its own prices for unlimited plans for all devices, including the iPhone. Earlier Friday, Verizon Wireless had cut prices on its wireless unlimited plans, and the other major carriers are expected to follow suit. The new unlimited plan is $30 US cheaper than the current rate.
Including iPhone owners, all AT&T smartphone customers will be able to get unlimited voice and data for $99.99 and smartphone users on the carrier's family plan - which requires a minimum of two phones per family can get unlimited voice and data plan for $179.99 per month. Customers can get the new pricing without paying any fees or extending their current contract on Monday, either by using the online account management tool at att.com/wireless or by going into a retail outlet.
The CEO of AT&T's wireless division, Ralph de la Vega, said the move was an effort to solidify the company's still-dominant position as the top smartphone carrier in the US.
Verizon had earlier Friday announced new nationwide unlimited talk plan that allows customers to call anyone in the United States for $69.99 per month and a nationwide unlimited talk and text plan, which allows customers to call and send text, picture and video messages to anyone in the country for $89.99 per month. Like AT&T's new rates, this pricing also takes effect on January 18.With more than twice the number of smartphone customers as our nearest competitor, we are committed to offering great value and choice for customers who want to talk, text and surf on the nation’s fastest 3G network. Our new plans reflect customers' continuing desire to do more with their phones – including talking and browsing the Web at the same time. Plus these new plans make it even more attractive to choose AT&T which already offers customers the best 3G experience and the industry’s most popular and innovative devices.

I don't think you're understanding what happened. Unlimited voice is as of right now $100. The new unlimited plan will give you unlimited Voice & Date for $100, basically knocking $30 off your voice plan.
So now you can get unlimited EVERYTHING for $120 altogether. I still think it's too expensive but hey that's just me.

Hmmm.. Again I only pay 100 bucks for voice and data right now...

I think I am getting excited for nothing. Does this mean the iPhone unlimited data plan of $30 will now be $15? Or are we talking only voice unlimited voice plans?

Its just the 99 dollar unlimited voice thats changing. That plan is becoming 69 dollars, add on the iphone data plan and your back at 99, but now have unlimited minutes.
Also, the text plan stays the same price. 20 bucks for unlimited texts is still too much, but what can ya do.
So, if you want it all unlimited, your looking at 69 voice, 30 bucks data and 20 for texts. 119 bucks plus the taxes.

Looks like it's automatic too. I went to check the price plans and it gave me a previous price and a new price.
Thanks AT&T!
