GV Mobile 2.0 for iPhone Coming to Cydia

This wouldn't be the first time we've seen a Google Voice Mobile app appear in Cydia. Less than a year ago, jailbroken users with GV accounts were able to download and use the original GV Mobile app. Boy Genius shared a sneak peak of a Google Voice, GV Mobile 2.0, which will be available soon via Cydia.

For those of you that don't already know, GV Mobile is an application that allows your iPhone to use all of the features that Google Voice offers and was even available in the App Store for a short period of time before Apple decided to remove it along with rejection after rejection. After being removed, the developer brought GV Mobile to Cydia. It seems the cycle repeats itself yet again.

Boy Genius is reporting that 2.0 is much more fine tuned and tweaked than the previous version.

“We’re really excited to tell you about it, too. It has been polished and refined — it had an injection of features — and we love using it, even in its non-final and beta form. For starters, dialed calls connect almost instantly, your iPhone contacts and favorites are accessible right within the app, there’s voicemail transcription viewing, and even multiple Google Voice account support. Advanced features like call forwarding phones, do not disturb settings as well automatic syncing, and even Growl support are on the to-do list.”

My guess would be that this is an attempt to make apple rethink their positon on rejecting the App, and Google's way of flipping the finger to Apple.

growl support sounds great. never tried the first version [GVmob] as i was leary. but im probably gonna give it a go this time around.

Google Voice is a fantastic tool and I use it daily. I have all of my communication routed through it so that I can have an archive of my messages. I worked on the icon for GV Mobile 2 but Sean Kovacs decided to go with someone else's design. I look forward to this app as it will greatly streamline my use of GV on my phone.

Will the new version have PUSH or some kind of automatic update? To me that is the missing link that makes the app more usable than just using it to dial out. Badge indicators would be ideal...

I found one way to use the google voice number in a secret way so nobody around you, brother, cousin, WIFE, can know that somebody is calling you. Just install iblacklist app then block your gv user phone to block calls and sms to that number, then you can give your gv number to anyone you want allow them to believe that thats your regular phone number, and when she, I mean they call you, your iblacklist are going to block her call or text sending it to your google voice mail or gv SMS, then you can see your txt message or her call on iblacklist and if you want to call her, I mean them back, just log in to your gv account, look at the number then call her. Nothing are going to pop up or shows in your iphone. And you are not compromising your regular phone with nobody.

Ah I forgot, so you can use it properly, you have to set your gv account on your settings to send txs messages to your phone and gmail account or an email of your preference and the same thing with you calls, In that way you are going to see on your email the number that call you before so you can call her or him back from google voice app of course, so he or she can see your google voice number and not your original phone.

Oh and another thing very important, if you are with ATT add your gv phone number to your My A-list if you are with T-Mobile add it to your 5 faves, and you are going to be talking with all of them for freeeeeee.
