SNL: "Making Calls" a "Challenge" for the iPhone
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmgKDvWdi6o&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Google Vs. iPhone clip.mpg[/ame]
A throwaway line by Seth Meyers on Saturday Night Live last night is making the rounds of the blogs:
Along with the news around Google's phone, this week saw an uprising of some AT&T customers frustrated by poor performance in many US cities - especially in New York City, where Saturday Night Live is based. Persistent rumors suggest that the arrangement under which AT&T is the sole carrier for the iPhone in the Unites States will end in 2010, and as previously reported, the chief technology officer for Verizon Wireless says that his company is ready for the iPhone.It was reported this week that Google would soon launch its own cellphone as a challenge to the iPhone. Also a challenge to the iPhone: Making phone calls.
The Unofficial Apple Weblog used the video's emergence as an opportunity to remind about WIRED Magazine's four reasons why Apple should ink a deal with Verizon:
Verizon Wireless took top honors with its CDMA network in the J.D. Power and Associates survey for wireless call quality.- Verizon’s Reputation for Its Superior Network

I am not sure the phone looks like that, but I know it is called the "Nexus One."

Lmao
Anyway I've also had all three iPhones and my service is prett bad. I switched from nextel and to say AT&T now is worst then what nextel was is ridiculous. I live in New York but in long island so it's not as crowded, they should stop bragging about there 3G and fix the voice aspect, I mean it's a phone first, right? Oh I'm sorry I was under the impresion I was using a cel phone. Am I?IPhone 3GS Black 16GB 3.0

Apple fanboy??? I think you like apple so much that you forget about the crappy service that AT&T gives the iPhone. I recently switched from the iPhone 3gs to an android phone(cliq) still with AT&T and have had absolutley no dropped calls or any other problems. With the iPhone in the same service area i dropped about 7-10 calls a week, and only got 1 bar inside my house. Now no dropped calls and 3-4 bars in my house.
I'm not saying that i won't buy the next iPhone. I just wish the service was better.

I'm glad to join the chorus of people who regularly have dropped calls on AT&T. no matter how much they sue Verizon, the truth remains.
been a long time since I had this kind of problem. and by "long time" I mean the early 2000s, when cellphones weren't common.
