Emblaze Accuses Apple of Patent Infringement
According to a report from 9to5Mac, the Israeli firm known as Emblaze is issuing a staunch warning to Apple. Executives at the company say that a new Apple-approved app for the iPhone and iPod touch violates Emblaze's US patent regarding media streaming technology.
What's the name of the app? Your guess is as good as mine. For now, Emblaze isn't saying. Although this week, we at ModMyi covered the arrival of an app that Emblaze could be referring to: Knocking Live, the first formally sanctioned and Apple approved iPhone app to offer live video broadcasting over a 3G network.
Emblaze has been developing media streaming technology for over a decade and first unveiled its technology to the public in a live video streaming broadcast from the White House during Easter, 1998.
What Emblaze wants isn't yet clear. Could the company sue and seek damages in the process? Maybe. But for now, Emblaze reportedly remains "open" to the idea of working with Apple - a long-term business decision likely in the best interest of the company.
The company has offered to license its technology to Apple, and the notice requires that Apple respond to Emblaze’s accusations by December 15.

Why haven't they contacted the owner of the app? Why only Apple? Sounds kinda fishy but if they can bring good value to Apple then i'm all for it.

Because Apple has to take responsibility over all the apps that it approves. That guy who spoke a week or two back did say that they did reject apps if it broke copyrights, which is why what they did was valid and useful. And letting this thing pass by will just throw down his claim, I guess. I'm pretty sure when Google Voice was submitted the other apps that were passing through at the same time were approved while they were focusing on rejecting the GV app.

3G restrictor works just fine especially with the slingbox (AV). So instead of the headaches why dont they just pay those guys (3G Restr) and be done with it. Actually 3G Restrictor is the shiznit.

I would get rid of my iPhone in a heartbeat for it. It is HSDPA and EDGE, so that means AT&Suck or T-NoWhere for American options...
Odds are high though if it is EVER released, those of us in America will never see it on a carrier here.
