    Nope thats not the problem

    I had 3.0 ( not jailbroken)
I had ipcc developer file on it
Itunes 9 changed the Ipcc file 3 times

I then learned of the new Jail breaking program and 3.12
    I did that instead.

Jailbroken and unlocked this will work with Itunes 9 and tethering ( Which I argue is legal since I pay for internet already)

Trust me I'm not as good at developing like many here, but this really happened, and experience wins over summation.

If I can't jailbreak my iPhone then it will be my last iPhone. My 2 cents.

Funny how the famous 1984 spinoff AD campaign which declared embracing change and breaking barriers is so fitting.. It's almost sickly entertaining, it is ridiculously applicable, only the "jailbreakers" are the outcry of oppressed customers.

It's funny, Microsoft, is more open, this coming from a person who switched to Linux long ago, and only look back when I absolutely have to, but I digress.

The market is responding to a need, this is the fundamental basis of change and the fundamental element of a free market. Of course, we are free to buy another device and I think this IS the turning point.

Up until reading this, I beleived that apple had it a hold on the market that could really not be broken, however, ultimately, they are playing from the same playbook that IBM played from and we all know how that ended. FAIL and back to the drawing board.

Apple needs to figure out a way to embrace this, or they will find their market slipping.

True but Steve Jobs wants to close down your ability to Jailbreak and do this..........that I'm truly against and I hate Steve Jobs because he's fascists like. ( I love Iphone and Ipod)Its my phone and if I want to open it up to other apps then I should be able to.

For the record I am not laying any excuses for Apple, I don't make a damned dime from them, though I make plenty off them. I'm just clarifying what a business decision is, all they are doing is delaying having to "give in" to the JB community, "forcing" users to buy from them or through them until they cannot anymore. Same thing any other company run by businessmen does. These are business principles, not to give away any perceived advantage you may have.
******** about it in forums does nothing. Real change comes when the masses "put their money where their mouth is". Until there is another device as enticing as the iPhone has been, change is unlikely to come quickly.

You and I see the same Steve then, he's always been the driving force behind propriety of the product. He says one thing and does another, is that not Hypocrisy?

I really like my iPhone too, but only if it's jailbroke.... So if by some chance apple makes it jailbreak proof then I too will move on to the moto-droid.
iPhone OTB is a cool phone that gets boring after a month... After jailbreak it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT PHONE.
So go ahead apple.... Commit suicide 

    Default Not too bright....

The people are correct. A very large percentage of people buy idevice's knowing they will be jail broken in the near future. Though I believe it is almost impossible to stop them from being jail broken. "It was put together, it can be taken apart." if they succeed to stop the jail breaking community. Then they will undoubtedly lose large numbers of customers with their future products. Very wise apple. I say do your thing and we'll do ours. The choice is yours,... Android market is looking better every day you choose to stray away.

    Default Jailbreak Proof NOT

The only real way that I think Apple could stop or slow us down would be to stop your device (Iphone Ipad Ipod) from syncing with itunes if your device is jailbroke and BTW they can tell if it is. But at the same time there are just as many people that do not or won't jailbreak their device. Their just to chicken to do it. Apple just love's it when you bring in your Iphone and it's jailbroke or somebody tried to jailbreak it and they say the warranty is void. We would love to sell you a new at full price!! The jailbreak Police are not coming to your house any time soon. And if you can't sync I guess you could end your contrack and sell your phone or throw it away. AT&T - Verzion would loose customer's I don't think they want that. If that's the case the jailbreak police woukld have find a new job and right now that's no fun. What's half the fun is to Jailbreak it. So I agree Apple do your thing and I'll do mine

Why has this thread been revived after a year and a quarter?
Jail breaking older devices is not AA problem, untethering them can be.
Newer devices are harder, the iPad2 still has no public JB
