Ok sooooo.....

Back before blacksnow I jailbroke my 16gb iPhone 3gs on blackrain using my windows vista comp.

Now. My AT&T service has been cut off and I am thinking about getting a cheaper service like t-mobile and unlocking wiu blacksnow. I don't know word one about how I would get the necessary data plan to be compatible with the iPhone but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

For now, I want to unlock my 3gs pending I decide to get a new, non AT&T, carrier. Any suggestions? Is this a bad idea?
I'm a noob.

Also someone told me they downloaded blacksnow and their phone went into an endless reboot loop and had to restore.

But I still dont have tethering available under settings to access...
How can I get this function.. ???

If you need to use with different carrier, create your ipcc bundle by using the bundle generator here mentioned in this post #1 here: Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone OS 3.0 - 3.1.2 (ipcc) - Hackint0sh

DO NOT USE THE BenM CARRIER PROFILE. it will break your visual voicemail.

I tried all this and it said I installed the profile but it wasnt signed for the tethering and in setting general network the tethering option was not there im legit atnt 3.1.2 I cant get the tethering hack if anyone knows please help thanks

The reason you can't is because 3.12 requires signed ipcc files.
BlackRa1n removes the need for ipcc files to be signed.
Your options are to either obtain a signed ipcc file that allows tethering for your carrier or to use BlackRa1n.

This was strange, but I was trying a new 3gs 32GB brought from HK and I was surprised that I have to jailbreak it each time I reboot it..it's like the new iPod touch!!...Jailbreaking by tethering!
Strangely my friends same 3GS did the same. BTW using Blackra1n RC3
Does anyone have a solution?

Hey Confucious Ok I jailbroke with black rain rc3 and I didnt unlock bc Im on a legit carrier and when I tried it before it totally messed up my phone bc your prob just supposed to use it if you are on another carrier. So I restored my phone and jailbroke again with RC3. But In my settings in the network the tethering option was not available. So im assuming what you mean by signed ipcc file is the carrier file? When I was on 3.0 we did not have the option to send pic messages but someone in here I think one of the moderators gave me a link to download this Carrier file 6.0 and when I did the whole cmd thing and allowed itunes to upgrade carriers I used it and the option tethering was there. So If I were to find one of those file which Im assuming must be a custom made one will the option of tethering be on phone once again? Really new to all this only had the phone for like 3 months now but its real addicting

INasser Your phone must have that new bootrom so you just have to wait till they find an untethered jailbreak for that new bootrom. And when they do it will be all over this site so you will know its really not that serious just dont turn your phone off or let it die.

With Orange coming to the UK iPhone market on Tuesday 10th October, and the hope of o2 unlocking all the out of contract iPhones, is there a way to remove blacksn0w??

I upgraded my 16Gb 3GS at the weekend, all went very well with no problems and i am now using it on my Vodafone contract after using blacksn0w through blackra1n.

Is it possible to remove blacksn0w as i will hopefully have no need for it very soon. I added the blackweather repo to cydia, and it showed blacksn0w as not installed (i was hoping it would as i could remove it in there)

Has anyone found the fix for 3G service also. Because I have carrier Telcel from Mexico and with this update to Blacksn0w I notice that the 3G services turns on and off when it wants. Not in the settings but one sec the 3G is there and one its not. I had this type of problem because with bad jailbreaks

@iNasser - if your phone is week 40 or after then JB is tethered only. No solution yet.

@Dajokeisonu - search for StealthBravo's 6.0 ipcc - that should work I believe.

@neenyrules - I'm not sure O2 will find it as easy as they think to unlock... But if they do then a restore will set the phone back to factory.

@grmiller - Try restoring and setting up as a new phone and starting again.
