No, you are doing the same thing whether you do it right after the restore or later on. It is those backup files that hurt the phones battery life.

Im running the same hardware as you too.
Try to do the activation before putting Tmob sim card in and see if that helps.

I spoke too soon. after I typed this I rebooted my phone again to see what would happen, and I lost wifi... I resetted network settings and it came back...

oh well, no issues for 24hrs.

Yes, this works like charm !

Task took 38 Minutes...

- Update firmware v_3.1.2

- Jailbreak

- Install, Rock, Cydia, and Blacksn0w

- And the unlock done !

- Deleted BlackRain...

PS:Pls advise regarding Tethering, should it be installed thru Rock and or Cydia, and the Rock be deleted or not...

So far i have no problem of wifi or SP internet.

You have the new iBoot so it's a tethered JB only.

Question: Once I unlock my 3gs using Blacksn0w baseband 5.11.
If I have to restore Apple Firmware 3.12 in order to fix somethings...do I lose the unlock...and have to unlock each time 3.12 is restored?

If you restore then your phone is back to standard. You have to JB and unlock again.

Well I dont know how I did it ether but I only have one problem now.

Installed a custom firmware 3.1.2 with cydia installed. Installed source repo for blacksn0w and than installed that. after that all work great. I have had no wifi problems more than last 24 hours. But there is one problem so of the artwork gets messed up in the music or videos. And when I go into itunes to erase it. Itunes comes out with a the iphone doesnt have premission or something like that to do it. And that itunes likes freezes.

Anyone else got that error? How can I fix it please. I got last version of itunes and windows 7. Is there a admin problem with windows 7.

I did a custom firmware install because I use Diskaid a lot and I found out that there are problem with blackra1n that dont let you into the root folder and with this custom firmware it does let me use it all. But like I said I have the itunes problem with custom firmware and none custom firmware. Please someone has to know whats up.

Can anyone do a point to point plan on how to jailbreak using blackra1n? I don't want to mess it up.

I am using windows vista
have a jailbroken 3gs on 3.0.1 firmware and last jailbreaked using redsn0w pwnage tool.

You're help would be great, just a quick do this do that as I should be ok with a guide.

This is what it is always saying in itunes:

What can I say I am a 2G user for a long time will look to upgrade to 32 shortly in Hong Kong factory unlocked but the black rain unlock jailbreak worked like a charm in the blink of an eye, just let the upgrade from I tunes do its thing, then when the message appears incorrect sim click black rain exe then make it rain and leave alone DO NOT DO ANY THING. your phone re booots aftyer about 2 mins done. I donated sweet

If it wasnt for that i would either have no wifi or back with 3.0 and shitty reception...

Install was a breeze, but no wifi scared me for a few minutes.

Yep was easy! Thanks lads. One problem though.

I installed categories so that I could put apps in one folder and now I can't find the acutal folder 'apps' that I made in categories?!! All my apps are in that folder but I can't find the folder on my springboard!!!?

Ok I've decided to use sb settings to unhide the apps i put in my app folder that was created in categories so that they appear in x amount of pages on my springboard then will start again from categories, touch wood!

It doesnt last forever. I still have to reset network settings after a day.
