I don't get it.. I have tried all 3 releases of Blackrain to JB my 3.1.2 3GS (bought Day 1) and I can NEVER get past the 'Connect to iTunes' screen and it stays stuck in recovery mode. I have tried EVERY attempted fix (disable Bonjour, unplug and replug, clean restore, etc) all 3 times to no avail

Try using another computer. Do not unplug the phone while running blackra1n!

I want to point out that this issue you are speaking of does not affect all users. There are countless amounts of people who running Blackra1n&Blacsn0w without a hitch. Your sugestion may help him for his particular issue, but it is important others know THIS IS NOT NECESSARY when running blackra1n or blacksn0w.

well it seems after anotehr reset wifi did not go away and all is good... Except now I have 5GB of "other" synced.. I am going to restore again to remove this crap and so ti again...

You need to load your ipcc, carrier settings, onto the phone and then reset

^ Have I tested pwnage tool before? Yeah, I had it on my old 3GS. The only problem I had was the missing carrier. I fixed with "Fake Carrier"

^^ I read somewhere on here, forget from who but they were a moderator (i'm leaning towards confucious?) that if the 4th and 5th serial numbers of your phone are greater than the value of "42" you have the newest bootloader on your phone meaning you have to do the tethered jailbreak with blackra1n.

Anyway I've already JB with pwnagetool (purpoted NOT to work with the newest bootloader) so it must have the old bootloader. I'll see if I can find a link to that post... but that's why I mentioned my SN having "41" for the 4th and 5th digits.

Right, sorry for the confusion (no pun intended). I actually just reread the post and he claims if the SN is "41" or higher you need a tethered JB, but I just JB with pwnage tool just fine and unlocked with blacksn0w (which I don't have any service just yet but I get spotty service in my condo as is...)

AT&T ipcc will not help you if you are on T-Mobile. Here is a simple fix...

Step 1: Quit iTunes and disconnect your iPhone
Step 2: Launch Terminal from the dock or from the Applications:Utilities folder.
Step 3: Enter the following command into the Terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

Step 4: Connect your iPhone and click to launch iTunes from the dock.
Step 5: Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left then hold down the Option key and click theCheck for Updates button.(shift+ option for windows)
Step 6: Now you can now select your .ipcc file as it is not greyed out
Download the ipcc from here: T-Mobile_US Carrier File
*Reboot your iphone (hold both power and home button for a few seconds)
and you are good to go!

If you want to change your carrier logos, you will have to SSH.
Step 8: SSH custom carrier logos to /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundle/T-mobile_us.bundle

To enable tethering, Follow this guide:
Open Cydia, and Click "Sections" on the bottom of the window. Scroll to the "Repositories" section. Look for a Repository called "iPhone-Notes.de's Source"
Install this repo.
Next, go back to "Sections" and go to the "Tweaks 3.1.2" section.
Browse for a file called "Tethering 3G-3.1.2" or "Tethering 3GS-3.1.2" depending on your model phone.

Reset the phone after installation. This will take care of the tethering option. Of course for both the MMS and Tethering settings require you have the Unlimited data plan from T-Mobile to work.

I can login to my phone using WINscp and I can add files and they do show on my phone in winterboard especially.. they just dont work when I activate them in winterboard... nothing changes
