If I am already unlocked with ultrasn0w with BB 04.26.08 and FW 3.1.2, the only real difference so far would be the carrier logo thus no real point in upgrading to use Blackra1n/Blacksn0w?

how do I do that.. I used to do it just fine without any problems.. now its showing that it copies over it just doesnt show on my phone

Ah crap....been a long time since Ive used WinSCP.

You have to find where it shows the file permissions information, and for the entire theme folder you copied over make sure they are set to "775". Which will give the phone read/write access to them.

I know that when you actually do the copy, a box will popup in WinSCP and on the right side it allows you to change/set the permissions then.

PS- Im only guessing thats what could be causing the issue. Easy enough to check/eliminate if it is or not. And Im assuming your dropping the files into the correct location.

You have to right click on it and then go to properties, there you can change the permissions.

The difference is that you are using an official upgrade and then exploiting its vulnerability and JBing it. Then injecting an unlock with a 5.11.07 BB. Versus creating custom firmware and preserving the 4.26.08 baseband.

yea i know where to change the permission but why would they change after upgrading to 3.1.2? I did make it its just themes for now.. in library i did change themes folder to 775 it was 755

If you changed the main "Themes" folder to 775 make sure all the subfolders/files where also changed.

And like I said I dont know if that is the issue, but it would cause Winterboard not to see the files, and its easy enough to check and eliminate as an issue.

IMHO I hate custom firmwares. I think they are sloppy where some would argue they arent. I officially upgraded all of my iphones and unlocked with blacksn0w. It is up to you however what you want to do.

PS- It really all depends on the method and hash/build of the jailbreak. Geohotz builds very nice apps.

hey guys just a quick question,
i am jailbroken on 3.0 with a legitimate at&t contract...

is there anyway to just update the software and keep all of my files, etc... without backing up?
Or do I have to do a clean erase and update my phone to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak?
- - - if so, does that software, "appsync" or whatever it was called (the cydia app that lets you back up your apps from cydia, etc...) really work?
