geohot has come through once again for the iPhone community. Earlier this morning he posted a video of blacksn0w:

blacksn0w will unlock both the 3GS and 3G iPhones running 05.11.07 to use on any gsm carrier. blacksn0w will be bundled into a new blackra1n that will be available on November 4th. So if you accidentally updated or restored to 3.1.2 and lost your unlock, you are in luck!

And of course you can find detailed instructions here on MMi on how to do it when the new blackra1n and blacksn0w are released!

So, if I buy a 3gs with 3.1.2 already updated will i be able to unlock it? or does the 3gs have to be on 3.1 unlocked already?

One question though... Since I don't even know which carrier I have (I bought it from a guy that bought it in Japan). So is there a way to find out which carrier you're on?

I am asking because I hope god blacksn0w isn't like purplesn0w. Meaning I need to legally activate it to be able to use the blacksn0w. >.<.

He hasn't officially said it will have hacktivation support but there was talk of it last night so I hope he figures out how to add it to blackra1n.
