I've never heard anyone refer to it as an iPhone 1g I've heard 2g quite a lot i used to own one

I love my original iphone, and I am tired of jailbreaking/unlocking to use on tmobile Im tired, Im tired of the 1600 errors and all the pressure of being reminded for the next update on a particular day. Please tmobile set the iphone free!

"Noob"???? How many apps did you contribute to in the App Store????? Your 0 to my Five. And from the looks of it, you're not even using an iPhone. It looks like your using and iPod wishing it was an iPhone. You probably downloaded the signal bars and carrier iPod tweak from Cydia. This forum doesn't concern even you. You are even a major failure and a dumb***. An iPod touch user can still have knowledge about the iPhone like me. And I don't even have signal bars tweak. And first of all, it is not iPod carrier tweak, idiot. And don't even wish it was an iPhone. What is the point of getting iPhone if I already have a cell phone? Sexy look and features, maybe. well im on att and am not going to change anytime soon....so if it does change to different carrier it better be gsm! or else ill be bummed cuz then i wont be able to unlock it and insert my sim...so hopefully it stays in the att network ;]

You are mixing iPods and iPhones there Chris. Technically speaking,

1G (first gen) = Original iPhone
2G (second gen) = iPhone 3G
3G (third gen) = iPhone 3Gs

People call the original iPod Touch the 2G because it was introduced after the iPhone 3G (second gen).

Back to the topic and away from the stupid immature in fighting on this thread, I would love to see the iPhone go to T-Mobile to shut VZW up. If this EVER happens I will definitely check out T-Mobile in my area. Maybe their coverage has improved beyond just the major metropolitan areas that seems to be the major complaint I keep hearing from T-Mobile customers. Seriously TMo, I can understand why your rates are low but damn, people talk on cell phones outside of major cities too...ever hear of traveling?

It is logical because they are GSM but the customer base of VZW definitely has Steve Jobs seeing $$. Not to mention VZW has a piss poor line up of hardware so the iPhone really wouldn't have a lot of competition on that network.

VZW device lineup is pretty pathetic but they are trying to improve from what I've noticed.

People seem to be reffering to the term 2G in multiple ways. 2G refers to the Edge network meaning the 2nd generation in data network connectivity (which is the data network the original iPhone connects to).

Then again some are using the term 2G to refer to the second iPhone that was released (iPhone 3G)

Calling the original iPhone the "iPhone 2G" makes sense since it runs on the edge network and not the 3G network, but it seems to be confusing some poor souls.

Calling it the iPhone 1G is just completely retarded. Maybe try "1st Gen iPhone" so you don't sound like you just blackra1n'd, jailbroke your first iPhone and now think your some kind of MMi ninja... We know you aren't.

And yes, here in the US, you must JB to unlock an AT&T carrier locked iPhone, unless your using some type of turbo sim type accs. which I'm not even sure are still relevant when using with the new hardware and SW updates.

Or maybe your one of the lucky people who scored an official carrier unlocked AT&T phone.

Anywho... Carrier options are only right.
