My 2G iphone is already on 3.0. I would like to know if I use Blackra1n to update to 3.1.2 is it going to lock the phone to used for other providers. If so is can I atleast upgrade to 3.1 using other method??

Question: I have already updated to 3.1 and still have all my apps etc on the phone. Do i need a fresh install of the 3.1 firmware?

So I've just updated to 3.1.2
Ran Blackrain(which worked initially)
Started to re-DL stuff from Icy.
DLed Categories again and started using it.
iPhone reboots while using categories and now will not come out of safe-mode.
I've tried re-running blackrain to no avail.
Still wont come out of safe-mode.
I'm guessing a restore might be in order here....
Where should I go from here?

Works effortlessly with iPhone 3GS 3.1.2. Blackrain only jailbreaks your phone, it doesn't unlock it (other carriers). Blackrain is the best unlocking tool out there. 30 sec's and you are done!!

Saying BlackRa1n doesn't unlock and then saying it's the best unlocking tool is a bit of a contradiction. You might like to change 'unlocking tool' to Jailbreaking tool' to avoid confusion. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Ya your right but I think we all know what h meant he prolly meant to say jailbreaking use common sense people everything should not have to be explained

We might do and I'm sure he does but unfortunately it only takes one noob to read that and mis-interpret it and they've locked their phone and I'm sure no one wants that.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
