im on jailbroken 3GS 3.0 and it says carrier 5.5

ok, you're nearby me, I'm in north chicago. I have a 3gs on 3.o JB'ed as well and mine says 5.0 at&t settings, and its not working, where do you go to put in the settings manually? I cant get it to work and i'm not updating to 3.1 yet, help

i jus got that msg from att bout the mms.i plugged in my phone but ill i got was the 3.1 update blah. but i was able to start sending pics on wednesday. im using 3.0 jailbroken with the carrier 5.1 if i update to 5.5 would i loose the profile from benM for tethering or would it continue to work?

I've downloaded the ipcc file but command prompt won't read it, I get an error "C program is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" WTF does this mean

yes you can...

download the carrier file from here http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1393717/ATT_US-5.5.ipcc

then connect to itunes and hold shift and click update and choose the ipcc file

I have a never-been-jailbroken 3G at firmware 3.1. I tried the mms hack a while ago but it never worked for me (I figured it was dependent on the local AT&T servers, I am in NJ about 35 miles due west of NYC).

I have not yet gotten the AT&T MMS message, but went to iTunes and it DID download the carrier update.

So my phone's about screen shows Carrier: AT&T 5.5 but I still don't have the icon to MMS a picture. Also, if someone sends me a picture I get no message at all and they think it went through.

did you restart your phone?

I didn't get that text from At&t. I did the update via iTunes but mms still doesn't work.

I followed this tutorial on my JB 3GS running 3.0.1.

I can send and receive just fine.

The tutorial says it's for 3.1, but again, I'm on 3.0.1 and it's working for me.

Also, the link on that site for the IPCC (as of 09/25/09 @ 3:32 central) is for 5.1 version of the carrier file. That is what I'm using now.

I haven't tried it with the new 5.5 though, not sure what the differences are.

I can and I'm not even using today's 5.5 update. I'm still using the 5.0 update, that way I can still tether. I have a 3G S jailbroken on 3.0.1.

if you wanna use the update and still have tethering then download the new carrier http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1393717/ATT_US-5.5.ipcc

then

Mac:

* Open the Terminal Application
* Run this command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE


Windows:

* Click Start > Run > Type: cmd (and hit enter)
* Run this command: “CProgram Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1



after that then you update the carrier you downloaded and tethering will still be there

I'm at 5.5 on 3.1.
Videos lag a bit to send but pics work fine.

I'm on 3.0 with AT&T 5.0 (carrier) and Mine works fine ... I did do the MMS hack like 3 months ago ... glad I did !!!!

Here is the official signed carrier settings from AT&T with the cellular data settings screen and tethering enabled. Tethering works great on 3.0 and 3.01 but I need someone to verify if it works with 3.1 or not. Good Luck!

i located the file but when it starts updating for like a sec then error

EDIT: A little more info - his Settings > General > About shows carrier as AT&T 5.0, mine is showing AT&T 4.0. What are you guys seeing?

Mine is saying AT&T 5.5 actually LOL

EDIT: Also, to clarify, I do not have a jailbroken phone, I'm on 3.1 on a 3GS and did the legit update today. Everything was fine for the first 2 hours but now it takes me 4 or 5 tries to send without failing. Thanks a whole freakin' heap AT&T
