You can mount a dmg to a flash drive...but the tool still isnt going to work on winblows

3.1 felt better when i used it. i was using it on my 3G before i brought it to apple to get it replaced for a new one.

maybe it was the placebo effect of having a fresh restore that made eveyrthing feel smoother.

i can't get a 3GS at a discount until January so i have to deal with this slow crap 3G for a few more months.

Windows Users -

The only way you will be able to jailbreak is to use a custom firmware made by PwnageTool (Mac Only). Nobody here will upload the firmware to this site because it is illegal to do so (copyrighted material). You will either have to find the custom firmware somewhere else or wait for an updated redsn0w.

So is the task of JBing 3.1 the same as before, ie you restore in itunes holding the alt key, select the custom ipsw file and then what use pwnage or redsnow?

no, with the cutstom ipcc file, you just get the MMS.
tethering is borken

For all you impatient Windows users:

You can always take the fun road and install OSX84 on your pc. Not only will you be able to run all dmgs out there, but you will also actually learn something.

Or you can always find a book about the mother of all virtues... Or a couple books about iPhone coding, find some exploits, and if you are lucky release a tool before the iPhone dev team.
