Downgrade to 3.0.1 or 3.0 from 3.1
*First if you don't already have Quickpwn22-1 go here and download it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H4BLU49J
-You will also need 3.0 firmware there are numerous websites to get the 3.0 firmware
*When you have both downloaded you will have to put your iPhone or iPod Touch into DFU mode,If you don't know how to put your iPhone or iPod Touch this is how(iPhone or Ipod Touch has to be plugged into your computer):
-Hold the Power Button+Home Button for about 8seconds till you hear your computer makes that ping noise(like when you connect or disconect your iphone or ipod touch).
-After hearing the ping noise let go of the Power Button and keep holding the Home Button for 10-12seconds then let go of the Home Button and your iphone or ipod touch should be in DFU mode.
*Open Quickpwn22-1 in the selection menu pick the firmware 3.0, then open iTunes and iTunes should recognise that your iphone or ipod touch is in DFU/Restore mode pick your device on iTunes then Hold the Shift Key and click on Restore Desktop Browse menu will pop up find 3.0 firmware where you have it saved on your pc select it and restore when and iTunes will restore your iphone or ipod touch. When it is done your device should be back to v3.0 and then you will be able to re-jailbreak.
I just downgraded from OS 3.1 to 3.0 to jailbreak my Iphone 3G againLast edited by djfubar; 09-14-2009 at 01:50 PM.

I Just Felt I had To Clear Some things Up.
Most of this Focuses Around The 3.1 Firmware, And IPHONE 3GS OWNERS!
(If You Own Any Other iDevice. I.E. iPhone3G/2G. iPod Touch 1G/2G. Skip Passed The Dotted Lines)
Essentially If You Are An iPhone 3GS Owner, Then You SHOULD NOT Upgrade to Firmware 3.1
FOR ANY REASON AT ALL, If You Want To Jailbreak/Unlock Your iPhone 3GS In The Future
If Your A 3GS Owner and do not Have Your iBSS/ iBEC or Hashed ECID SHSH on File Then Jailbreaking Your iPhone On Firmwares After 3.0 May Be Difficult or Even Impossible
Additionally, If You Upgrade To 3.1 On Your 3GS, You WILL NOT Be Able To Revert To 3.0. Ever.
This Is Because Apple is No Longer "Signing' The 3.0 Firmware For the 3GS, And If You Try To Restore To It,
Since it Will not be Signed by Apple, You Will Get An Error An Will Not be Able To Restore to It
^^^^ All That Only Applies To iPhone 3GS Owners. No One Else.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iPhone 3G Owners- As Far As Jailbreaking, Your In The Same Position As All Other devices (iPhone 2G, iPod 1G, iPod 2G) Once The Firmware is Jailbroken, Your All Good to Go. No problems.
But As Far As Unlocking, Your In The Same Deal As iPhone 3GS Owners.
YOU SHOULD NOT UPGRADE YOUR IPHONE 3G IF YOU WANT TO UNLOCK IT, FOR ANY REASON.
If You Do, You May Never Be Able To Unlock It EVER AGAIN
Wait For A New Pwnage Tool So you can Upgrade Your Firmware Without Upgrading Your Baseband.
Follow those Rules And You Should be Fine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iPhone 2G Owners - Your Unlockable No Matter What, Apple Hasn't Touched It's Baseband For A Year Now. No Worries here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iPod Touch 1G/2G Owners - Pwned For Life(:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iPod Touch 3G - Soon To Come......

I have a question here, if I have an iphone which is factory unlocked. Can I upgrade to 3.1 or not?
I used to upgrade my iphone in the past without any problem, but this time I feel it will be a problem for me if I upgrade. Please confirm if I can upgrade or not.
Thanks

The iPhone Files are not saved from the older version of iTunes.
They Are saved From The 3.0 Firmware, And it Only Applies To iPhone 3GS Owners.

Uhh. NOO WAIT!!!. If you have a iPhone 3GS Factory Unlocked, Just like the one i ordered a few days ago with 3.0 on it, you are still in a limbo. DO NOT UPDATE to 3.1. Having it Factory Unlocked ony will allow you to use any carrier, not give you the freedom of Jailbreaking. I haven't received my 3GS yet and am stuck as I have not captured my iBSS/iBEC files (Haven't received it yet). Like always, wait till the Dev Team gives the go ahead to update, safely. Now the advantage for us is that we can allow the baseband to update without it locking up on us as we dont need to have the exploit the dev teams uses for carrier locked phones.
I truly hope you didnt update. please wait till others comment on your post before updating. No disrespect to NormanRmrz, but please do not give someone the go ahead without knowing the facts. He can stay unlocked but doesn't necessarily mean be able to JB.
If I Helped. Please Hit Thanks!
