3GS iPhones can no longer restore to 3.0

As of this morning iPhone 3GS owners can no longer restore to firmwares 3.0 or 3.0.1. This is due to the fact that Apple has stopped signing these files and if you try and restore using one you'll get an error. So this means you should be very very careful until 3.1 is jailbroken because if you mess up your phone... you can only go up to 3.1 as of now. Additionally if you do not have your IBSS and IBEC signatures and you restore, you may never be able to jailbreak again.

iPhone 3G and first generation owners should still be able to restore with no problems.

What is the easiest way to get my IBSS and IBEC signatures? I have a 3.0 3GS. With the new Cydia upgrade I thought I downloaded something that enabled that... or atleast I thought so. When i open cydia it tells me up top: This iPhone 3G(S) has an ECID SHSH on file. No clue what that means.

Any time you restore it sends a signal to the Apple server to verify the firmware. Apple is no longer verifying these anymore so you will get an error.

exactly. Baseband updates too if you are using iTunes. You cant restore or update firmware without internet connection.

I believe at this point, if you didn't already have cydia get the files for you, or you didn't use geohots method...then you are SOL now (or the other manual USB method).

I believe all these methods relied on being able to contact apple and receive the sig file. Now that they are no longer doing that, you can't get one.

Must be the reason they told people 1000 times, for the past few months, they better do it now or they may never get it.

So if Saurik has your files on his server but you didn't get them for yourself you "should" be ok? Saurik I HOPE YOU HAVE BACKUPS RUNNING ON YOUR SERVER!!!!
