if you let cydia get your files how do we retreive them, had to restore after loading winterboard on 3gs and it was the same time 3.1 came out and now SOL

Is there any way to check if by a miracle I backed up the ECID on Saurik's server??? I had my Iphone running 3.01 the other day, but after it froze it needed a restore. I tried for 3 hours to revive it without the 3.1 restore, but in the end I had to restore to guess what... 3.1!!! Bye bye jailbreak. Since I had run Cydia many times on the phone when it was jailbroken is there a chance it might have grabbed the ECID by itself??? Apple is becoming even more full of sh** then their usual. Microsoft computers might jam but at least there is always a reason as to why. With Macs it's like, if it jams, you're SOL.

You would have had to click the "make my life easier" button in Cydia for it to have backed up your files.

I saw from another website that you cannot even get the ECID from purplera1n geohot webpage anymore. Can someone verify this if someone get the ECID file today. Thanks

I think the window for ECID on Cydia is closed, You can read it in the homepage of Cydia by clicking to "Updraging to 3.1? Read this". That's sad.

i read somewhere that on sept 25th apple n at&t r finally coming out wid the mms, n for mms to work on the3G n 3GS they will most likely come out wid an update.. so if they do come out wid an update, n i do update my phone will i lose my jailbreeak?

OK so last night my 3gs jalibroken on 3.0.1. froze, and i need to do a restore.

When i jailbroke my phone i saved my ibec and ecid file on my laptop.

Is there any way I can restore my phone back, since it stuck at the apple logo and needs a restore.

Or should i Just wait for a new tool?

Won't work. If its a 3G-S, it will contact Apple and if Apple see's you trying 'anything' but 3.1 it will fail. And the connection to the internet is also required or it fails.

Do I have this right? I just got a 3gs tonight (great timing eh?) it has 3.0.1 (7A400) on it. So I can jailbreak, I just cant restore to other than 3.1 if something goes wrong?

How long was it when the 3G-S first came out till there was a jailbreak? Give it some time. No one said, it can't be done. Quite the opposite, its possible, but just not ready for release to everyone.

Once the 3.1 JB comes out, its not going to matter if you didn't get the 3.0 IBEC and IBSS previously, all that means is you can't back get 3.0, but if you can get a JB 3.1, why care?

Its in the short term that the unlocked people have to be careful, cause if they do anything that causes a snafu right now and have to restore, they get the baseband update.

Worst care if you on 3.1 now, your stuck at a stock phone for a little while till the tools are ready. Ehhhh, play with the compass a little bit.

1st and 2nd Touch should not be an issue. Maybe the new ones will have the 3G-S's signature scheme, but the old ones are the same as the 3G phone, they don't need any signatures to my knowledge.
