When I go to change plans I don't get anything other than the iPhone options. I'm assuming they are blocking it based on IMEI and ICCID. So does anyone have it working for more then a day or two that doesn't have a family plan?

Make sure your voicemail apn is acds.voicemail and not wap.cingular

The sim swap trick may work for a day or so but it will eventually get reset by ATT. Its not the .ipcc file (thats just one step). You have to get ATT to enable it on the network end. If it works for you for good and never resets then they have opened up the network for you account. Congrats! We ain't found s-h-i-t!

Just spent 3 hours dicking around with this and have finally got MMS to work on my 3GS 3.0 FW. This is what I had to do. I followed the steps to update my carrier from AT&T 4.0 to 5.0 by updating the .ippc file, then since I was getting a red "!" I tried the switching SIMS and called AT&T to have them fix my plan. What a pain in the ***, but it works now. Can't wait to call them back on the 25th and tell them the iPhone I smashed has healed itself haha.
Anyway, this does work on 3.0 with a little work.

I had some AT&T "tech" tell me that I had a device problem, rather than a network one, when I called for help with my Visual Voicemail. He was all ready to completely reset my phone until I received a picture message while speaking with him. Uh, no thanks dude!

I've tried it, no dice. I'D LOVE to do the sim swap thing, but the other person on my account is my wife, who has the 2g phone. The picture thinger is a nice upgrade, and tethering too. some of us will just have to wait and see. Congrats to those who got it to work...lucky...

Correction: just tried it. It works!!!!!!!! Im glad to have it back!
I had it working for like 2 weeks, and then when I jail broke it, it stopped. Stupid decision, because I restore my phone because winter board was slowing it down too much. I have never gotten it back.

Ok so after reading this thread and doing a bunch of different settings. I finally got mms to work.
What i did was update the 5.0 carrier file. Then i switched my sim with my wifes lg phone. I then sent a mms through it( i dont know whether this affected anything). I made a phone call. I then went to the media site and input my number( takes a while to get through) then i got the text with the 4 digit number. Input the number to the media net site.
Next go to the attwireless site and see if your phone has switched. It took like 30 mins for mine to switch from the iphone. Then go to features and where messaging is, see if a messaging option is there. NOT iphone text messaging. Change it, save and then put your sim back in your iphone. then WALLA, mms!!!

Still doesn't work when I'm connected to a wifi router. If I turn wifi off, I can send and receive them fine. Anyone know why?
BTW, if anyone wants to enable MMS now:
1. Download this.
2. Close iTunes
3. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
4. Run the command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE.
Windows (32 Bit):
3. Go to Start then Run and type CMD.
4. Run this command (without quotes): "cd CProgram Files\iTunes\" and then "iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1".
Windows (64 Bit):
3. Go to Start then Run and type CMD.
4. Run this command (without quotes): "cd CProgram Files (x86)\iTunes\" and then "iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1".
5. Open iTunes, plug in your phone, and click on your phone in iTunes.
6. Hold Shift (Windows) or Alt (Mac) and click "Check for updates".
7. Select the IPCC you downloaded earlier.
