Study Finds iPhone Users Want More Power

Image via pocketpicks.co.uk
"I... must... have... more... power!"
It seems that legendary line from Star Trek can now be attributed to millions of Apple customers, too.
Strategy Analytics is out with a new study - conveniently titled "Retaining and Attracting New Customers: Profiling the Apple iPhone User" - revealing that iPhone users want more power.
Of all the ideal features Apple customers can envision for future updates to the iPhone, their low satisfaction with battery life far surpasses other concerns, like the quality of the device's camera, for example.
From IT Wire:
The study, which in some aspects in insightful, isn't really telling us anything we don't already know or haven't yet complained about in the last two years since the iPhone took the world by storm. If anything, since 2007, iPhone junkies like myself have become more vocal about their beef with concerns relating to some of the issues broached in this study. In fact, no longer are iPhone users just excited to have this cool new toy. We've now come to be so dependent on it - for work, play, and, in some cases, our livelihood - that we not only want better, we also demand better.Strategy Analytics’ senior user experience analyst, Paul Brown, says part of the problem is the iPhone users’ higher use of battery-draining features than non-iPhone users.
“iPhone owners use more features on a regular basis than non-iPhone owners, with two-thirds browsing the web and sending personal emails daily—features which will considerably drain battery life.”
In this regard, Kevin Nolan, VP at Strategy Analytics, hit the nail on the head, "Given the importance placed on features and style by existing iPhone owners, it is important for Apple to continue to provide innovative, compelling devices, while recognizing the need for improved battery strength."
What else did the report find?
- The typical iPhone owner is aged 25-44
- Over 80% of iPhone owners also own an iPod
- iPhone owners exhibit high brand loyalty

Yeah....I need more power......
More power......A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

We definitely need more power, I could stand the iphone to be little thicker to make room for a larger battery.

I've got a AC chargers in two rooms in the house, one at work, one in the car, one in my travel bag, plus an external battery pack. You bet I want longer battery life.

It's not more power.... It's longer lasting is what i need. like a bigger mAh battery. More mAh that would take me threw the day. The bigger the mAh the longer we can go with out charging....

Battery life really needs to be increased as when you check your email a couple times its drained like crazy.
I shouldn't have to charge my 3gs every other hour

Every other hour?! What are you doing on that thing lol... I use mine as a backup iPod when I don't feel like carrying my 80gb Classic around (which is most days going to class anymore), and it checks my e-mail every 30 minutes to see if I have anything, and the weather is updated every 15 minutes, and I'm usually playing on it during the hour between classes, and then there's the 3.5 hours of iPod'ing at work before I get home at 4pm... and I usually have still 20-40% battery life left, usually dependant on what I'm playing during that hour of free time between classes.
Now, that's not to say that I wouldn't mind having more juice too, just so I don't seem like a hater. I would like to see my phone make it all the way until 10p-12a when I normally go to bed and not have to plug it in when I get back to my dorm. Though, I will say this too, because I was reading more of the posts and someone mentioned 3G... Where I am for university, we don't have 3G service, so that part of my phone is turned off most of the time unless I go to my g/f's or mum's house where there is 3G service.Last edited by TsukiakariUsagi; 09-02-2009 at 08:34 AM.
