Delete the email from the server then delete the account on your phone. Then add the account back to the phone.

This is a major issue, not just for the emails still being on the phone, but what about the memory this is taking up with potentialy hundreads of deleted emails being stored on the phone.?...

Iphone deleted email bug quick fix! By M.Thurman

rebooting iphone does not deleted them, using sbsettings to free up mem does not delete them either! Do the following "at

    your own risk"

To fix the issue temporarily if you need to sell your phone and do not want any of your old e-mails found or read, do the

    following:

#1 use iphone browser v1.9.1.0 to get into your iphone root directory "Be Careful""VERY DANGEROUS"
#2 go to the followong directory /private/var/mobile/library/mail/
#3 find the file "Envelope Index" and delete it
#4 reboot phone and then search again for you emails!!! WALAAAA they are gone!!!

Again this is only temp until you get more emails and read and delete them, then if you want to get rid of them you will

have to do the above steps again!

    See ya!

I don't see this as a security problem. To read the deleted email means the your normal emails can also be read. How is one a security fail while reading the non-deleted one not a fail?

    I actually like this feature.

I doubt it would work with exchange....when you delete it from the phone it permantley removes it from the exchange server. Apple would have zero control of it
