8.6% of iPhones Jailbroken and Rising

In their most recent newsletter Pinch Media (aficionados of iPhone app analytics) published statistics regrading jailbroken iPhones.

Out of all the millions upon millions of iPhones out there 8.6% of them are jailbroken. That's up from the previous report of 8.43%. Jailbreaking is becoming more and more popular while Apple continues to release anti-jailbreaking propaganda. Pinch Media recorded that out of the nearly 1 million new devices they saw last week 17.1% were jailbroken.

I was expecting more, I thought it was about 20% but if is increasing I think we're going to get there before apple realize its useless "jailbreak has to be ilegal" project. it's just that; useless

think about all the business men that buy this phone thinking its so amazing as is.. now only if they knew what jailbreaking was.. then the numbers would def increase

YAY for Jailbreak. If apple gives us more options (carriers), we dont have to go this way. I hope they realized that why we jailbreak our iphones because is cheaper for the same kind of service and i didnt mean the 3G service.

I expected it to be more. Apple's Anti-Jailbreaking propaganda only advertises Jailbreaking to more and more people.

i have helped at least 10-15 of my friends jailbreak theres cause they were scared of it being too complicated lol. if apple wasnt so controlling there would be no need for jailbreaking but since there microsoft i mean apple lol jailbreaking is here to stay whooohoooo lets keep it goin

Serioulsy, thats a small percentage at the present time. If it were 40-55% then I would say wow. The iphone has only existed for almost 2 full years??

How are they able to tell how many are jailbroken? Where did that stat come from? Just curious.

True how do they count. Maybe after you have jailbroken your phone and sync it, iTunes sends some information from your iPhone to Apple without us knowing...

also thought the number for jailbreakers would be higher like 1 in 4 (%25)
