Apple iPhone Still Increasing in Market Share
Gartner published some compelling stats on smartphone sales today and they show that the Apple iPhone continues to quickly increase market share.
In Q2 2008 Apple only had 2.8% market share in smartphones. Through methods like releasing to more and more countries internationally, releasing new product mid year convincing people to hold out for the next idevice instead of purchasing elsewhere, and strategic price changes (the iPhone 3G for $99) Apple has managed to take control of 13.3% of the smartphone market. Thats a 10.5% increase in just one year.
Gartner says that Apple's smartphone rise isn't done yet
Apple brought its much-anticipated new device — the iPhone 3G S — to market at the end of the second quarter of 2009, but its full potential will only start to show in the sales figures in the second half of 2009.

I would be curious to see last year's chart to see who they are taking the market share from. Are blackberry people migrating over or possibly just a little across the board?

Looks like they're taking market share from Nokia, Fujitsu, and Others. I don't think BlackBerry users are very keen on switching to iPhone. The red light is too addictive :P
