Apple Releases 3.0.1 Update! SMS Hack Fixed!

To an earlier post. AptBackup restored all my applications/settings for me. After the restore was complete it took about 30 seconds for all my applications to appear.

I'm using the 3GS with firmware 3.0.1 Redsn0w jailbreak (using the 3.0 exploit).

What's an IPSW? the program tell me to choose an IPSW, but idk what to do.

ipsw = iPhone SoftWare
Select the right one for your device.

Well when I open redsn0w all it says is to choose an IPSW but there isn't anything to choose from. There is just button that says 'browse'

hi was wondering if there was a way to hack after i updated to 3.1...i have att so i dont care about ultrasnow...i have the beta its all fine and dandy i'm a dev and blah...but i'm just wondering if i can get cydia on this thing...i'm basically wanted to downgrade to 3.0 which i can do..but i cant seem to get cydia to run.

ok so got the IPSW and everything was going fine until the jailbreking part. It just froze and it said "redsn0w has stopped working"

You need to use 3.0 ipsw for JB

DO NOT UPGRADE YET.
I think it's not working.
I could (as always) be wrong, but I think RedSn0w at the moment is downgrading to 3.0.
It's 3am and I'm goimng to sleep - hope to have better news when I wake up

Hello all. I just attempted to JB my v1 8GB iPhone tonight. I updated to 3.0.1 first and then used the instructions from the iClarified website to JB/Unlock my phone. I notice that it set my phone back to 3.0 software though. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks..

Restored, upgraded, JB just fine...no issues here.
Had to use redsn0w of course, PR wouldn't work.

Just did my 3G, same way as stated in the first post. So far everything works fine..

Do your restore with itunes with 3.01 then use redsn0w and the 3.0 firmware and your all set.

Should I use the 3.0.1 firmware from the link you posted to JB my v1(2G) phone? I used the one on the iClarified website and it seemed to set my phone back to 3.0 Software. I upgraded to 3.0.1 thru iTunes before attempting the JB.

Well I thought I did that.. my phone has Cydia on it. It just is showing 3.0 firmware. Did I miss a step somewhere.. I apologize in advance, I'm new to all this stuff.
