Didn't the guy that plans to reveal the exploit work for the NSA or something like that? I too hope nothing becomes of this, but I think there is something to it if he's made these claims.
Edit: Take a look at this:

Arnold's helping with the debt...
It's us schoolkids that are suffering from it
And the teachers.. but it's their fault for becoming teachers
I'm pretty sure there is something to it.
Maybe it'll be like jailbreakme.com
that took advantage of a MASSIVE flaw (or at least from what I've heard)Last edited by angiepangie; 07-30-2009 at 01:22 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

This is crazy! So the way I take this is it's some sort of buffer overflow, that dumps into a root terminal. There have been many many of these around for windows users for quite sometime. I have really no expirience with the iPhone os, but osx and Linux do not handle this type thing quite the sameway as windows, and actually getting dumped into a root terminal could be possible but are very very rare. So I still have faith in *nix and this really doesn't worry me, what does tho is if it dumps to a "mobile" terminal. What I mean by this is a terminal logged in as mobile, which would give some access but not root. So now to change passwd(s) and Check permissions. Sorry if this makes no sense I'm bout half drunk trying to really grasp this, could be bad.
