You know what would really be f@cked up is if Apple kills the functionality of the GV apps that were downloaded before it was pulled from the app store. I know that would pretty much be impossible I'm just saying.
This is crazy though. I don't get a lot of things these folks that are running the app store are doing. Most of the time it makes NO since.Last edited by A_DuB187; 07-28-2009 at 10:46 AM.

what im going to do is imma keep my unlimited texting for 1 more month and then take it off...still trying to get used to this google voice thing...with the 406 numbers..does that mean i can text that number back and it goes straight to the one im texting w/o the need to open up the GV app(even though i have GV backgrounded anyways)

^ There is an option in your GV settings to adjust your caller id options.

Why would this app get pulled...
I was reading about GV a couple of weeks ago and found it pretty interesting that you could use it and theoretically never use your plan minutes.... Well for TMo at least.
With a myFaves plan from TMobile, you get unlimited calling to five numbers. Put GV in as one of those Faves and dial it to initiate a call. Connect to your friends through GV and you are only calling one number. (Your GV #)
So all the calls you make are to your GV number which you put in as a myFave. Which are unlimited 24/7 so you could talk nonstop on a 400 minute plan and never go over the limit.
Or so I read........

Yes, let's not take advantage of a service to consolidate all your internet/mobile life under one account for fear that it may be closed down for no reason whatsoever.
You're a self described new-age hipster who uses cracked apps, jailbreaks and themes the phone in an attempt to be a unique snowflake in the world of iPhones, and have a RATM complex against big companies who provide free services to make your life easier.
Are you seriously still mad from when I banned you for being an idiot?

Yes, in the states you pay for incoming calls and incoming text messages. Basically, if it comes into your phone, they charge you for it, and if it goes out of your phone, they charge you for it too.
Now let's imagine this little scenario for free money on the phone provider's part. I'm on Provider X and You are on Provider X as well and I sent you a txt. I get charged 10 cents for sending you that message which is sent along a path of towers and data lines, etc. to your phone and then for you to get the message, you are also charged 10 cents, but for what? They just made a free 10 cents for something they charged me for.
P.S. The same goes for calls too, and it's the same logic.
Or Google decides to shut down the free SMS again... If the GV SMS section is the same part of the system that was allowing people to send SMS from GMail for free, it could in theory go down at any particular time because that was a "lab" and I believe two or three weeks ago it went down and I just started seeing the cell phone icons showing up again in my GMail Chat list so I could send SMS through that, so be weary of relying on this heavily for now. We still don't know why they originally took it down except for a cryptic message saying it was interfering with regular services, so if they haven't totally fixed that glitch, this could go down too until they find a solution for that as well.Last edited by TsukiakariUsagi; 07-28-2009 at 12:48 PM. Oooh, didn't know the SMS integration was part of the labs. I try not to use any of the lab stuff because of that exact reason (no real way of knowing if it's going to be a continuing service).
Google Voice however looks solid and given how the bought Grand Central to integrate it with Google, I don't see it going anywhere.
