It appears that installing iRock and MyWi broke Cydia. Since I used Cydia to install iRock, it must have been working at that time. No other apps have been installed and now Cydia does not work. It immediately crashes to the springboard.

Can still SSH into the phone. Wonder is there is anyway to fix Cydia that way?

Greetings, I downloaded and successfully installed this program for my iPhone 3GS. However, since installing it, my hotspot has been hit and miss. Sometimes on for one minute, then turning off. So I would like to know if anyone can answer the following.

(1) Do I need to have my iPhone 3GS on wifi mode or strictly 3G data mode, or have them both turned on at the same time,, prior to activating/turning on this program?

(2) Once I successfully get my hotspot working via my iPhone, does my iPhone need to stay awake for the connection to remain constant? I mean, I have my phone set to slide lock after 5 minutes, and then the screen light of course turns off as a part of this normal process of locking. Then when I press the home button, I get my slide to unlock screen. So should I have my phone configured to never lock and always have my display light on? Will I loose my hotspot if my iphone slide locks, and the screen goes dim?

(3) If the answer to the above question #2 is that my iphone has to NOT be (slide) locked and the always awake, with the display light on, then does anyone have any Cydia app they can recommend that will "specifically work on 3GS" to keep my phone awake, even with the screen dimmed and off.

Thanks for any help. I just wish the "Rock Your Phone" website gave alittle guidance on how to use this program, or at least answer these above questions. Thanks again.

I am having the same problem most ppl having with this app.

It works for about 45 seconds and then no signal. Then the signal reads " waiting for users to connect to ADHOC"

What is the solution to this problem?

Rock App website states:

Didn't know this when I installed it through Cydia. Intelliscreen, Tlert, and MyProfiles worked fine. However I later got a crash where the phone prompted me to restore. (No network error). Interestingly, Intelliscreen was still functioning on the Lockscreen on top of the Restore screen.
Short story is...I have a new phone now. Apple said it was a hardware failure. Fortunately I was able to remove Intelliscreen by accessing the phone by running Redsnow, although still had a network error.

I'm hesitant to try Rock until they start testing on 3GS and fully support it.

New to the Forum - but I wanted to read some reviews before trying this and this quote struck me as odd. About 2 weeks ago I pulled out my old reliable Moto Razr which I used to tether when I had my 2G iPhone. However, the same thing happened on my RAZR, after initial connection, data just stopped.

I will lay money that AT&T (at least in the States) is hijacking the sessions. Has anyone else tried other devices?

No, you have to install all 3 debs because

MyWi depends on RockExtentions and RockExtentions depends on RockApp

NOT THE BEST... doesnt work with PSP, PS3 consoles... still being an AD HOC connection, consoles dont connect through ADHOC, AGAIN, another application for PC, LAPTOPS... just computers... can someone make the application with SSD interface? (like WMwifiRouter)

All: There is def. an issue related to the purplera1n jailbreak (Thanks to DaveiPhone for confirming as well). We are completing a workaround for this. (Feel free to rejailbreak via Redsn0w in the meantime, as you're likely to have other problems in the future)

I'm having some issues with my trial of MyWi as well. I have a 3g iphone which I used the latest version (.8) of redsn0w to jailbreak. Installed rockapp via Cydia then installed MyWi via rockapp. The application starts, I can turn wifi tethering on, it says the network (I named mine iphone) is broadcasting, however no device will connect. About 50% of the time when I go to the home screen and then back into the app, wifi tethering has been switched off and usb and Bluetooth tethering is on. I have tried soft reboots as well as switching the phone off and then back on. I have tried multiple WiFi channels and have not even attempted using WEP yet. I'm not experiencing any other issues with the jb, wifi works great, etc. Any ideas?

I've got the disconnect after about a minute problem on a jailbroken 3G.. never used purplerain.


I'll buy the app as soon as this great app is fixed!

I originally jb with PR but then did a full restore and jb with redsn0w. I'm still getting disconnected after a minute. Is it possible the full restore did not remove the PR jb?
