I dont think we will see PWNage tool until the release of 3.1. I think the Dev Team released redsn0w only in response to Purplera1n. I think we will see all the tools released for 3.1, especially PWNage tool since many will need to build custom .ipsw's to preserve the baseband for ultrasn0w

has anyone tried ssh with cyberduck on 3gs?

yeah. that would be the best way to go. i've read from alot of other forums that if purplera1n is working ok you don't have to switch.

Does this change the bootup logo from the apple image to something else (like the pineapple)? If so, is there a way to fix that like in pwnage

I followed the walkthrough step by step.
Cydia shows up, everything is flawless.
Thank you very much for the guide and thank you dev-team once again
BTW: I did not have issues with getting stuck on any screens, did not have to disconnect at any point for any reason
The whole process took me about 3.5 minutes to complete.
There is no pineapple logo for the boot logo.Last edited by rolandgabor; 07-07-2009 at 08:25 PM. Reason: additional info

You are using the wrong version of Redsn0w. You need 0.8 not 0.7.
In the 3GS version you dont have to put the phone in DFU in that manner.
Check the Dev-team blog for the correct version of redsn0w.
Hope that helps.
I know it shows 0.8 but it still requires a different method for 3GS.
I just did the jailbreak with no problems at all and redsn0w required different steps than what your screen shows.
Go to:
-user
-Library
-iTunes
-Software update
You will have the files thereLast edited by rolandgabor; 07-07-2009 at 10:36 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ugh... The jailbreak itself went just fine...started up Cydia, which was a bit flakey, installed Cydia installer update & added a source; installed openssh first, Cydia crashed, but I re-started it & queued installation of both SBSettings & Winterboard. I was prompted to re-boot, now my 3G S won't start... It just shows the Apple boot logo for about 5 seconds, then screen goes blank.
Guessing I'll need to see if I can get my phone into recovery mode & restore to stock 3.0?

Im trying to decide if I should jailbreak my iPhone 3G, I am getting ready to upgrade to OS3. What are the drawback to jailbreaking? I was told that everytime there is a future update, the phone needs some reconfiguring. Is this true?
