purplera1n, Geohot's iPhone 3GS jailbreak solution, is now available in Mac flavor, thanks to AriX and westbaer.

Seems to work smooth, although the same issues still apply as with the Windows version of pureplera1n - namely WinterBoard not working.

Here's how to use the tool:

Go to purplera1n.com, and click the Mac logo to download the tool. Make sure your iPhone 3GS is connected to your computer.

Unzip the program if your browser didn't already for you, and double-click the purplera1n icon to launch the app.

(Note: this is Intel only. PPC folks will be greeted with this pretty message: )

Press the button that says Make it ra1n!

purplera1n will let you know its waiting for your iPhone. The iPhone will go into recovery mode while this is happening.

You'll see the modest geohot's image on your iPhone.

Assuming all goes well, within a minute or two you should see the Done! Wait... message in purplera1n.

After the iPhone boots, it will have a new app called Freeze with a white icon.

Open Freeze and tap 'Install Cydia'. It will now download and install the package and then clean the installation. Wait till it says 'Finished!' and then just exit to home screen. If you still don't have cydia, reboot the phone and use freeze again.

Your iPhone 3GS is now jailbroken with Cydia installed!

I am tempted to jailbreak using the Mac version just to try it out. The Windows version worked great for me!!

the mac version was flawless didnt get to try the windows version. im still stunned at the ease of this method of jailbreak compared to quickpwn

Crappy timing but at least you jailbroke the phone and if anything acts up you now know that an easier Mac verison is available.

Wow Purplera1n is amazing. It worked like a charm and you just need to click one button to do it. I wish there was an advanced mode though so I can feel like I'm apart of the jailbreak haha.

I downloaded the MAC version, did a complete restore on my iPhone just so I could do a full test of this version (since i was bored now that we are fully JB'd

) and everything worked awesome!! Donated $25 to Geo for the cause!

hmmm... okay, maybe i will bite the bullet. any word on winterboard? if it isn't working, do we know if it'll just be a winterboard update to fix it? or will we need to rejailbreak to fix it?

Jailbroke and then added ultrasnow , restarted the phoneand everything works except wifi ???

Awesome, just downloaded while sitting in the air port about to get on the plane. Maybe i will try jailbreaking it while in flight.

Did a restart and still wont find any wifi networks getting really annoying

Any more ideas please

Done 1 restore and re jailbreak already on windows might try it on a mac now

Done 1 restore and re jailbreak already on windows might try it on a mac now

i meant with the home and power button reset.... or u can go into wifi and do a manual find your wireless network..... if that dont do it then yea id say try a restore then rejailbreak
