So I have been using redsn0w and am unfamilier with purplera1n. i have had 0% luck with it and want to JB with PR.
If there is no winterboard how do u put downloaded GUIs and apps from Cydia on the phone.

ok, im not sure if its the cmp that im using or if i am just missing something!
a couple friends told me that this purplera1n break was super simple and would only take 5 mins!

so i have now spent about an hour trying to figure out why my phone wont move on from the screen with our man Geo on it!

i have tried closing down the window on my comp that tells me to wait for reboot and started it up again after 5 secs... but it gets stuck with him holding that giant iphone every time!

any suggestions?

PurpleRa1n is no longer supported - what FW are you on? It should still work on 3.0 but doesn't on 3.01

Why not just use RedSn0w?

its the newest one... 3gs which i believe is the 3.0.1
and i was looking for the simplist way to break it.

PurpleRa1n does not work with 3.01 - you need to use RedSn0w (but you will need the 3.0 ipsw which you can download from this site)

It is VERY easy, any problems and full walk through see iClarified - Tutorials - iPhone and pick the Windows or Mac tutorial depending on which one you use.

PurpleRa1n isn't supported after 3.0 however RedSn0w is, just make sure you use the correct version and ipsw files. To use RedSn0w to jailbreak 3.0.1 you need to have both 3.0 and 3.0.1 ipsw files.
