i have had a great experience with the new jailbreak.....i will confirm that winterboard does not work,, but its the best thing out there so far..

Anyone can help me out got a 3gs but no activated sim card and itunes is asking me for a social and zip code when i plug in my 3gs,it has a sim card from the previous buyer but i don't have his info of course so that sim is no good for me

any way around activation?

if i use my mothers sim card and put in her info would all be good?

also would the dev teams release include a activate for us?

I don't think anyone saw, but they posted the jailbreak for Mac, Cash7c3 can you tell us why it is now taken off? Haha.

how long does it take? my purplera1n says "running..." and my iphone looks to be in recovery mode(usb cable with arrow pointing to iTunes logo). It's been like that for a little while now. Am I good or is it stuck?

All i had to do is when it booted in safe mode was to uninstall winterboard and i was good to go. Other than that its working fine ( no winterboiard of course). I used xp. People seem to be having a problem with vista.

It didn't work for me using Vista, but it did when I switched over to an XP machine. Good to have Intelliscreen back!!

ok i testet it on vmware xp pro...running on a mbp. worked like a charm...but has a few kinks to it...

kill itunes helper in the activity monitor
start you xp or vista (has to be english)
get itunes...
plug in the iphone and set fusion to connect to it
wait 'til itunes shows the phone (don't close itunes...just leave it open til done)
execute purple
the phone should go to recovery mode
my purple stopped working then, so i executed again while the phone was still in recovery mode
the it should show a pic
wait
wait
after 10 or so minute the iphone should reboot it self (just wait until it does)
back on springboard
restart phone
look for the app freeze open it wait to download cydia and off you go...

don't get winterboard (fiveicons and such still work) and if it crashes into safemode just uninstall the last app and restart...no fuzz...really easy ant nothing gets lost in the process...but to be on the safe side make a backup first....

Will downloading ultrasn0w from cydia unlock after the purplera1n jailbreak? No need for me to JB yet if I cant unlock. Thanks for any reply's.

i tried it and didnt work for me iphone froze in recovery mode I will wait on the dev release as the creases will be ironed out by then

i've unlocked with ultrasn0w & now works with my voda sim fine but now my wifi network cannot be found, i've heard others that are having the same problem after unlocking with ultrasn0w
