This method DOES work for both Ziphone and iplus.
Problem with iPlus, is that google maps still doesn't work...

I'm a little confused about this "fully reversible" thing, isn't everything (including ZiPhone) reversible with a restore?

yes and no.. as i understand it, there are 2 different processors in the phone. one controls the software part of the phone, the other controlls the modem part of the phone, which means the modem needs a firmware (baseband if you will) and the sofware needs a firmware (1.1.4!!)
It seems that the software is able to write to the modem firmware, but either no one can reflash it through software yet, or after it gets flashed one time too many the wrong way (bad data being written into it) it may just malfunction and not even start (saying no base band info, no firmware info no wifi, ect)
I could be completely wrong, but thats what i kinda got from reading around about the problem today, someone please correct me if i am.
Edit : More baseband stuff from the devs - http://iphone-dev.org/sgold_bootrom:brick
Bricking your S-Gold
Unlike the s5l8900 with its DFU restore, it is possible to put the S-Gold radio CPU into a permanent “brick” status. It is (so far as we can tell) impossible to recover from this bricked S-Gold mode. Your cellphone and Edge and WiFi can be lost forever.
The checkblank routine in the S-Gold bootrom checks the locations A0000030,A000A5A0,A0015C58,A0017370 for empty (FFFFFFFF) before it will accept a new bootloader. Geohot's hardware unlock from August 2007 tricks the bootrom into checking alternate locations higher up in baseband space for the empty status. If both the bootloader code is somehow rendered inoperable and the baseband space isn't empty in the A17 alternate locations, your S-Gold bootrom cannot be tricked into accepting a different (working) bootloader, even using geohot's A17 hack. If your bootloader is inoperable, so is your baseband firmware. This is a permanent brick mode that can be caused by bad or malicious software.
So, be careful about what programs you launch on your iPhone.Last edited by coreymc; 03-14-2008 at 02:05 PM. Reason: read this

the fully reversible comment is directed towards bootloaders.
ZiPhone: when unlocking a 4.6BL, it downgrades it to 3.9BL permanently and currently there are no ways of upgrading that
iPlus: when unlocking a 4.6BL, it downgrades it to a FAKE 3.9BL, which is fully reversible, back up to 4.6BL, if the iPhone user wishes to do so
i think that is for you to decide. everyone will have their own opinionLast edited by jtesnani; 03-14-2008 at 03:17 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks so much guys!
I followed the guide exactly and went from anySim unlocked 1.1.1 straight to 1.1.4 effortlessly
(Well i did encounter the 1603/1604 error in iTunes but fixed that by updating from 7.4.2 to 7.5 and it worked =D)
Am wriggling now thx - and yes, it's a far easier process than the baseland 1.0.3 days! that was scary

i dont see whats the big deal about boot loader 3.9 . i mean most people who own older iphones have it and no matter if u do a 1.1.4 upgrade it still wont change it unless u do it thru hacks. so knowing this , how is this better ? big deal ziphone down grades the 4.6 bl to 3.9 many people who got a iphone when it first came out have it as well.

More information please, you make it seem like its just an app that i need to install, then run it, then upgrade to 1.1.4 and use iplus, and im done?
Please tell me the repo if its how I just said it, if not please explain a little better, thanks.

I had 1.0.2 as well. I ran the virginize app from unlock.no (got it threw installer) After that I just restored straight to 1.1.4 then ran iPlus, everything worked perfectly.

iPlus
I used iPlus to upgrade to 1.1.4 after a previous upgrade to 1.1.3 with Ziphone. No problems, smooooth, even saw the '...oops I've detected 4.6BL..." Everything works the same as with 1.1.3. No better reception, no better battery life, no better anything. It didn't even arrange for a high priced call girl. And, SMS notify still doesn't work!

I dont think there is a way to flash a new baseband yet, so what you should do is lie!
