Well, seems if you on windows you can type this into run or vista's search bar:
%temp%
Hit enter and it should be where the file will go. I had a lot there so emptied the folder out. Now just would like to know what I should be looking for before I start
Someone on the dev blog posted that a file appeared but vanished quickly, so we may need quick fingers?

The files will be folders with a .tmp extension
like this Per8FB4.tmp
you will see two different ones for each restore.
Inside the folder you should see
A folder called Firmware
A file with a .dmg extension
a file of the type S5L890X
and a restore.plist file

I have an iBEC file!
When you do the restore - keep open a window (this is in Windows) pointing to AppData / Local / Temp - you can get this by typing in %TEMP% into the Explorer Address Bar.
When you first start to restore a folder is created with a name like "Per2251.tmp" - it'll flash up anyway during the Restore.
Go into it - have a root around whilst it's starting to unpack - and a file called "iBEC.n88ap.RELEASE.dfu" or something similar should appear - iirc in a folder in there called "Firmware" - just have a root around and you'll find it.
COPY this into another folder (not move it - or the Restore won't work)

In order to see invisible files and folders via the Finder, you must turn on the capability. You can do that by opening the Terminal application in the Utilities folder, and at the prompt enter or paste the following command line then press RETURN.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall FinderLast edited by Melech518; 07-01-2009 at 07:52 PM.

Read my post above yours. they are not actual files, they are folders with files in them...
they will have a .tmp extension and start with Per
In windows they will be in the %temp% dir
In OSX in the \tmp
to get to the %temp% DIR in windows click on start> then run and type %Temp% then hit enter and it will take you right there

I also have done the purplera1n thingy, and I also would like to know wether any further action is needed. Wouldn't want to have to go to the trouble of restoring if not needed.
and what about this double restore, please can anyone step by step this?
thanks

Ok, If you are on a Mac do the following:
1.Open Terminal
2.Copy and paste this exactly: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder
3.Open Finder->Macintosh HD->tmp
4.Do a restore in DFU mode, and a regular restore
5.The files will appear in the tmp directory during the restore ex. PersonalizedRestoreBundle.************
6. Copy the folder/file in tmp and paste it into a new folder on your desktop or anywhere you can safely keep it.If I helped you, hit the
button or be Banned!
