You gotta get it to work at this point, or you have to restore. You can try as many times as you'd like. I ran itunes, made sure my usb was plugged into the back of my computer, not the front panel, ran purplera1n, and it eventually worked. You know it works if you see the pic from purplera1n of geohot on your phone while it's sending the payload and starting a reboot for you.

I've also heard you may need to have itunes installed into the default directory, or move files over to the right location. There is more info on geo's blog under comments.

Still chuckling with incredulity at the majority of dullards posting comments on the Dev-Team Blog basically stating that they think Geo is some kind of amateur first time hacker and that the all mighty "DEV TEAM" are the be all and end all world experts on all of this

Are you using Vista? That happened to me all night with Vista. I finally went out to the garage and got the old desktop with XP installed everything I needed to install (including Service Pack 2). Also, if you are stuck in retore mode and purplera1n says entering recovery mode, then close purplera1n, disconnect iPhone, reconnect iPhone, restart purplera1n. Purplera1n should say running. This is using XP SP2. Hope I helped.

my usb's on the front dont work so its always on the back. everytime it just goes to restore screen and says wait for reboot and i let it sit for 12 minutes still nothing. Then i have to restore just to get the phone to work. I think im gonna give up until someone who has had my problems gives a little more info. Just got it restored again and dont feel like not having a phone all day. thanks for the advice i appreciate it.

This one is for Stealth....I was beginning to inatall SbSettings and noticed that mobile substrate gets installed as well. Did you not say anything that relies on mobile substrate would not function properly?

I have the same issue, I keep getting to the "done, wait for reboot" and I see a usb plug with a cd and music note on my iphone. Guess it's just not meant to be for me
