One step closer to a 3G[S] Jailbreak and Ultrasn0w will work also
Sorry Apple, jailbreakers win again. Nice try tho. Try harder on the 4G
Earlier today, we got our hands on the bootrom. With the help of chronic, posixninja, and pod2g, I verified that it is still vulnerable to the 24kpwn exploit present in the iPod Touch 2G. This is great news for all of you. Basically, this means if someone makes a tethered jailbreak, it becomes untethered, because the boot chain is broken. Expect big things soon =)
On a personal note, I'm sad. Apple, it took me a week to break through your new defenses. And to let us reuse an exploit like that; 24kpwn was so 5 months ago. Although I imagine it must have been painful watching the devices roll by on the assembly line, knowing they all had a hole in them and you couldn't fix it.
iphone dev team
24Kpwn lives on, in the iPhone 3GS!
About 5 hours ago, we were able to verify that the 24Kpwn exploit that the hybrid team used on the iPod Touch 2G is still present in the bootrom of the iPhone 3GS. That means we can apply the same sort of technique used by our current redsn0w tool to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS.
This is great news!
And yes, ultrasn0w will be able to be run on the iPhone 3Gs for you unlockers!
Are you starting to get excited yet 3G[S] owners?

Man I'm totally stoked. I got the 3gS mostly for what the extra ram would mean to the mobile substrates. One sweet *** jailbreak and hopefully backgounder will be ported. Too bad these guys don't take donations cause I would definatly donate

The more I get used to a non-jailbroken phone, the more I wonder if I actually want to jailbreak. It's all come down to iRealSMS. That's the only app I want to jailbreak for now. I'm looking forward to SBSettings and StatusNotifier again, but I wouldn't jailbreak just for them.Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?

If I didn't, press it anyway.

I really miss SBSettings and Backgrounder.

Great news!! Stealth, who was it who found this exploit you are quoting and who is working on the jailbreak? Very good news for all. I am sure the jailbreak on the 3GS will run a lot smoother with less crashing then on the 3G's running 3.0.

I'm sure Apple is indeed very sad with everyone buying their phone.
06-25-2009, 10:36 PM #16
Like he said it's not the devteam. It's the guy who did the first hardware unlock on the first iPhone
06-25-2009, 10:37 PM #17
This makes me really happy. Yesterday I almost forgot there was no jailbreak for 3GS and caught myself thinking about all the themes I want on this new phone
06-25-2009, 10:38 PM #18
Its geohot the original leet h ax_0r! Everything else has been tested and verified via the Chronic dev team. Sorry iPhone dev team, maybe you can beat them to the public release of the jailbreak

Every one knew it was only a matter of time... Hackers rule the world... well I wouldn't really call dev-team hackers... more like visionary directors of the iPhone...
lol well I'm just about to get my iPhone 3g, maybe next year I'll get the 3GS... lol... can we say train... cause that is what apple has here!Never underestimate the determination of a kid who is time rich and cash poor. (Little Brother by Cory Doctorow)

i love my "S" the way it is....but jailbreaking may improve! i still have my jailbroken/unlocked 3G...but prefer the faster S model over it.
thanks for the heads up!..and thanks again to ALL dev-teams!if i can burn crosses..i can dance to anything.
